Hackamore vs. Waterford

Horse leans on the Waterford.. Only after he has been using it for a while.
I just need something to switch it up with every 10-20 rides..
What do you think of a hackamore?
There would be nothing really there for him to lean on... or something like that.

how the heck does he manage to lean on a waterford? Thats like, nothing to lean on! lol

You could try it, but try an english pattern hack first (Short shanks)

When me and gracie used to run out on the trails she leaned so bad, she was looking for balence, i heard it isn't uncommon

I know, that's what I was saying.. (leaning on a waterford!)

He is leaning for balence, but at this point he needs to stop, he has balence, he doesn't have to lean, he doesn't lean all of the time. it's like he just get's lazy, and needs a little reminder. lol

They can still lean in a mechanical hack but if you use a bosal or a rope halter hackamore it might work... how much control does your horse need? Why not use a regular snaffle and use half halts to get him off your hands?

That is what we were using. Then moved on to the waterford, and still have been doing that.

Well... with a hackamore he may just lean more because there won't be anything in his mouth.
