Question Hackamore leather piece

Does anyone know where I can find the leather curb strap that goes with a hackamore? I've looked around a bit, and just can't seem to find them.

Round Horse Bit Lip Strap, English Horse Tack

What is that? I'm 99% sure it's not what I'm looking for (I want a flat piece anyway), but what is it?

*Smacks self on forehead*

I didn't think to look on ebay, thanks.

I don't have an issue finding the chain curbs, they've got them at our TSC. But all I need is leather which is proving more difficult to find.

Thanks!

The link that you posted, was just a lip strap, very thin, it is used with a pelham, or curb bit of an english double bridle....not what you want....would just a leather strap, like one that is on a leather halter, that adjusts the nose band tighter or looser? work? Cathy

You know I was thinking about that. I've actually got a leather halter here that is broken, but the lip strap is in good condition. I'd probably have to punch some more holes, but I bet it would work.

I don't want to put a lot of money into this (not that the straps are pricey, it's the shipping!) as I don't know if she will even take to it. It might be something that only lasts 5 seconds before I realize it's a no go.

That's what I have used on my hackamores! works just fine....just make sure that the leather is not rotten, or you may end up with no brakes Cathy

I saw a guy riding a horse once that the hackamore broke on (actually the cheekpiece broke which could have happened with any bit. But the horse literally ran through the arena fence instead of stopping. Guy summersaulted off. And thankfully only had a sprained wrist.

You definately do not want your bridle breaking on a full gallop arab while practicing speed events. It wasn't pretty.
