Gullet Changing System::Saddle

I was wondering if anyone had ever tried a Gullet changing saddle? Do you like it, pros/cons. I would think after changing the gullets after awhile, they would ware out. I would like to know as much as possible about them so please let me know if you have ever had any experience with riding in it. Anything at all would be really helpfull. Thanks!

I haven't messed with them, but I know people who work lots of horses have a similar system. They like it. Instead of changing saddles and having a BUNCH Of saddles with different gullets, they have one. They don't say anything bad about it.

I think if you have one horse, wouldn't be worth the money, but if you do a lot of riding on different horses, might be worth the investment.

We have the Isabelle Werth saddle with easy change gullet. I really like it, but it is a pain in the cahoonas to change that gullet. It takes 2 people and Schwarzenegger to do it. But it sure beats buying a new saddle for every horse!

Hey Syn! A gullet is the open space on the bottom of the saddle that clears the spine. A gullet is usually anywhere from 2-4 finger widths wide. The wider the better. It allows the spine to move as the horse works.

My L&R dressage saddle is adjustable. It's easy peasy to make the adjustments. Flip the saddle over and use an Allen Key.

I have a Wintec Dressage 500 and its really easy to change. I don't need to be Arnie to pull it apart and put it back together. Its really great as we have 3 horses that all have different widths. Its so much cheaper than buying 3 different saddles.

I did a little research on the saddle and I thought you pulled something in and out to attach the changing gullet, which would cause me to think that it would ware out after awhile, but actually, I think the screws are a good idea. But then I thought "Won't the screws ware out after changing them." I have a 15.3 hand mare, 14 years old that changes so much from summer to winter, the saddle fitter said I would need a summer and winter saddle. I thought that a gullet changing saddle would be best.
