Conditioner: mane and tail conditioner

Detangler:Cowboy magic

tail bag/ wrap

Any other product: vet wrap, and cottom thread

Process: keep it braided until I need to take it down. I always trim alittle off of the bottom. Not a lot but maybe a quarter of a inch.

experience: worked on show horses my whole life.

Conditioner: Infusium or whatever is on sale at the Dollar Store or Sally

Detangler: Dollar Store brand

tail bag/ wrap: Never use it on horses that are turned out. Just when stalled before going to a show to keep it clean. Braids or bags outside where I live can mean tails get ripped off! BTDT

Any other product:Healthy Hair Care

Process:Leave tails alone until just before the show. Apply conditioner when I wash and tail is wet or spray HHC when I groom.

experience:Had and shown horses my whole life... 40+

Conditioner:Infusium 23 for a light condition, Mane&Tail for a heavier one.

Detangler:Infusium 23 or any kid's detangler.

Tail bag/ wrap:Only use vet wrap and electrical tape in winter. Makes them less brittle.

Any other product:Bacon grease for growth.

Process:Mane & Tail used during summer baths. Infusium for dry brushing. Vet wrap and electrical taped around October, bacon grease applied weekly to the tail bone, taken down monthly for washing and heavy conditioning. Bang off the ends.

Experience (how it worked):4 inches of tail over a winter. (Oct-March) Thick, tangle free tail.

Really, bacon grease??? Never thought of that one, I think the dogs would be a little to tempted and end up with a hoof in the face!

Conditioner: Mane & Tail Leave in Conditionner

Detangler: Sante Fe Coat/Mane&Tail conditionner spray or Show Sheen

tail bag/ wrap: umm... the kind that you buy at the tack shop

Any other product: MTG (Jazz's tail grew 1 inch in 5 weeks)

Process:
Just slap the Mane and Tail in and braid the tail for 2 days. Do NOT wash out. Comb tail thoroughly before applying conditionner. Hair can be dry or wet...

Spray the tail with Santa Fe and comb through

Braid tail and wrap in tail bag

MTG: use it once a month. Pour some onto the tail bone and rub it well into the roots. Make sure you do this once the sun is down if your horse is to be turned out. It attracts the sun and burns the tail.

experience (how it worked):
Jazz's tail grew and thickened incredibly during the last few months!

Conditioner- Quic Condition 1 or Eqyss MegaTek

Detangler- Eqyss Survivor

tailbag- 3 tube tail bag, or a normal sock

Process- starting in December, I carefully combed the tail out, applied MTG to the tailbone, massaged it in, used MegaTek on the ends, braided the tail, bagged it. I only took it out every 2-3 weeks or when it started to look loose. Then Id repeat the process.

Experience: Skips tail grew about 6 inches in 4 months I have pics of it from before and then in february, and that had been about 3 months and it had grown little over 4 inches.

Before- these are from last year

After using MTG-

Really. I go in once a week during the winter at our local grill and get a little condiment cup of the grease. Really good. My horses flake horridly in the winter, and it keeps the skin from drying out and itching, so the tail grows more because it's not geting rubbed. Also, I rinse the tail bone in 50/50 listerene and water when washed. Always given me great results. Of course, it's personal preference.

Clarification please! Do you add bacon grease once a week, and then immediately after rinse? That must smell scrumptious!

Also, do you do this year round?
