Growing frogs...

Well.. My daughter "grew" her own butterflies and now it's frog season.. I have just ordered her ten "babies" to grow from polywogs into frogs... We have the habitat all set up... So in 2-6 weeks we'll have another science project started... I'll be sure to share this one like I did the butterflies...

Anyone done the polywogs before???

Next on the list are preying mantis

I have LOTS of tadpoles...my ditches and puddles are brimming with them. I bet Mary's will be a lot cuter than mine though.

What is a plywog?? I suspect it is a tadpole.

I love froggies.

I often rescue tadpoles out of puddles that form from our storms that dry up before they're full grown.

We have raised them many times. Once the got to look like a frog and were out of the water we let them go in our pond. They are so cute to watch. I think we just fed ours frog pellets from a pet store and I believe lettuce. Once they got their back legs we put in a large rock so they could crawl out when the rest of their body had developed.

Oh how fun! I remember doing tadpoles in grade school, but um--that was just one or two years ago so the details escape me.

Sounds like this will be fun... We live so close to the rivers edge it's hard to beieve we haven't seen any polywogs (tadpoles).. I guess the water is too swift... adn we really don't have any standing ponds around... but we do have lots of frogs.. so go figure, they have to come from somewhere?

I ordered them online... supposed to be only 1 inch big when full grown frogs.. HOw cute does that sound

With good feed, plenty of excersize, a correct trim, and freedom from disease the frogs should grow.

Tee hee
