You all would die if you knew my grooming tips. Here are some.

I NEVER brush or comb my horses tails. Willy is now 20 months old and he has not even once had his tail combed. It is long, thick and full. A good 6 inches below the hock as a yearling. The only time I touch a tail is after it is clean and conditioned. I use cheap products, Suave, whatever. Then I carefully pick through. My horses tails are thick and full to the ground. I don't cut, bag or do anything to them. When they get too long, they naturally break off.

I rarely bathe my horses with soap. Joe was shown last year almost every week, but only had soap on his body once. I only soap the tail and any white on his legs. That's it.

I might use some show sheen before a class, but rarely do I put any "product" on my horses.

My horses always have a shiney coat and look "show ring" ready.

I don't blanket or keep them inside. I don't groom every day or have any special grooming supplies. Just a big body brush. I do like the grooming stones. That is my one luxery.

My biggest expense is fly spray.

I just feed 'em good and the rest takes care of itself.

For white horses or white markings, dare I say it, but truck wash works wonders. Gets every stain out and leaves them super shiney and WHITE! I know it sounds bad but everyone I know basically uses it and no one has ever had a problem with it. Its been a tried and tested way. Just make sure the type you use is obviously non-toxic and safe.

Its been said but washing your horse in baby oil after being clipped gets rid of all the lines and brings back the shine.

Worst tip: When dying the tail before a show DONT use vasaline to keep the dye getting on your horses bum. It doesnt come off easily as its waterproof and having a greasy sticky horse bum is NOT attractive!!! lol Instead smear the bum in conditioner. It prevents stains, comes off easily and will leave the bum soft and shiney lol

cOWBOY mAGIC IS THE BEST GROOMING PRODUCT EVER INVENTED. MY FRIEND HAD HIS MARE COME IN WITH A MANE AND FORELOCK FULL OF THOSE STICKY BALLS. I RUBBED SOM CBM ON IT AND BRUSHED IT THROUGH WITH A REGULAR HUMAN HAIRBRUSH - IT WORKED SO GOOD. HE HAD GONE OUT THE BARN TO GET SOMETHING FROM HIS CAR AND BY THE TIME HE CAME BACK IN, I HAD REMOVED 12 OF THEM. THE CBM ALSO WORKS ON THE COAT LIKE SHOW SHEEN. PUT SOME IN YOUR BODY BRUSH AND SWEEP ACROSS THE COAT.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use the avocado spray on a towel after brushing and rub in with the hair and it gets all the dirt out and they smell good and get a little conditioning...
I also take the towel after and clean there nose.

How do you wash them with baby oil? do you cover them in baby oil and then wash them with soap?

I don't have many, but here's some stuff I do.

I use Quic Sheen by Exhibitor's Labs instead of Show Sheen. You can put it on the saddle area and it won't be slippery and it has color enhancers in it. If you use it with one of their color enhancing shampoos it works even better.

Instead of baby oil use Silverado Face Glo. It has a sunscreen so it won't fry your horse's skin in the sun and it won't get runny. Plus it smells like strawberries.

I use Slick N Easy grooming blocks to remove bot eggs and make your horse extra shiney. It is good at removing hair when your horse is shedding too.

For the last four years or so I've kept a bottle of a generic "No More Tears" spray detangler for babies in my tack box.

It's cheap, it makes combing the mane & tail a breeze and it leaves absolutely NO residue. Also has a very light and pleasant smell.

Calms flyaways too!
