Also have used taper candles to touch up jawlines and fetlocks.

To keep a long, dragging tail up off the ground between classes at a show, use electrical tape. It does NOT stick to the hair, and pulls out very, very easily.

I have been grooming (maintenance mostly) for a while and would like to turn it into something I can do part-time/full time in the near future. I am currently retired but working for someone else again. My passion is horses and have been grooming my boyfriend's 21 TWH. Does anyone think there is a market for it. I am currently in the Atlanta area and would like to build up a clientele. Would appreciate any feedback or ideas on how to best get started. Thanks!

I use Shapleys touch up spray on my paints legs for halter. Works great. Just don't over do it because it will look gloppy

Here is a tip: baby wipes work great for over spray of touch up products, or chalk.

Also dryer sheets work great to keep lint off your horse before you walk into the ring.

Morgan showing! I use Ultra colored gel for around my mares eyes and muzzle. She is a bay and it really accents her eyes. Also use the gel on her butt to enhance the outline. For hooves: I sand the hooves. Just don't go nuts with the sanding. To me it is no different than buffing your nails. Then use steel wool just before you apply the shoe polish. Two coats of shoe polish with a buff in between then a coat of black hoof polish. Those feet really shine!!! A swifter cloth really gets the dust off her coat before entering the ring. If you happen to own a horse with striped hooves use the green tape (the tape you use before painting to cover woodwork) to get an even stripe when applying the black hoof polish so it doesn't go on the white part.

To keep her tail clean and up when warming up just use vetwrap a couple times around or a really good human hair bauble.

Wet the tail down and brush until dry so you don't have waves in the tail from it being braided.

If you show english a sleezie is the best thing I have seen to keep braids looking nice in between classes.

To shine up her body just a good vacuuming, a good currying and a soft bristle brush and finishing off with a chamois. A healthy diet is the best thing for shine.

The worst thing to ever do!! A girl I show with took some kind of black spray and sprayed it on my mare's tail to get rid of the red hairs from the tail being sun bleached. Any time you touched her tail you ended up with black all over you. I cannot remember the name of the product though.

All I can think of for now!
