Grooming Stone

I remember a lot of people on here talking about a grooming stone, and how wonderful it was. I've been thinking about getting one, but I have a *dumb* question for y'all

Okay... I was wondering if the stone smells? Sounds dumb, huh? We used to use a grooming block called a Slick 'N Easy... It worked well, but it smelled like rotten eggs I was wondering if the grooming stones smelled like that too?

Oh yeah - I was also wondering if the block seems to last quite a while, or if it wears down easily?

Thanks for the help

*Goes off and smells my Slick 'N Easy*

I've never ever noticed that! I have my slick 'n easy and it's the GREATEST thing to get hair out! I LOVE it. Maybe when whoever was making your grooming block, the person was eating a raw egg sandwich and accidentally dropped it into the mix! hhaha, just kiddin'.

Slick 'N Easy blocks are also fantastic for removing bot eggs!!! So much easier than a bot knife. Mine doesn't smell like anything

I use mine a lot, it's not only great for shedding horses, but also for shedding dogs.
The smell is the sulfur contained in the pumice. Not all of them will smell, it just depends on where they mined the pumice - hence some of them smelling like sulfur and others smelling like smoke.

Thanks for all the input guys! And thanks for the information about the stones... I knew it was a sulfur smell, but wasn't sure if they all smelled like that. I mostly ask because I'm allergic to sulfur, so I have to be careful not to inhale too much of it... or else I become a lovely pink blob *lol* I never broke out because of a grooming stone before, but ya never know. Oh well... my horse's beauty is my pain *lol*

**runs out to buy a grooming stone for my horse... and one for the dogs **
