I've seen grooming stones in tack shops and web sites before, and I know what their basic use is, but what I really want to know is do they really work? Do they work better than a brush, or worse? Are thet worth the money? How long do they last? Would you recomend me using one? What are some pros and cons of a grooming stone?

Grooming stones ARE God's gift.... They work better than a brush in that they grip the loose hairs better, but I still use a soft brush after. They are COMPLETELYworth the money Mine have lasted longer than expected - when they get dull, you're supposed to rub them on concrete to rough 'em up again...that does make them smaller over time. Grooming stones are great when there's a lot of shedding going on, and they are particularly effective on dried mud. They're too hard and rough to use on delicate parts (like legs) and generally, I think you get what you pay for (cheap grooming stones vs. less cheap ones) in that the bigger, rounder ones seem to last longer. |

We talkin like a slick'n'easy block?? I love those things...but I end up with black crumbles all over in my grooming bucket so I try to keep it in a plastic bag
