Grooming/Slicker/Shedding Block question...

Does using a Grooming/shedding/slicker block screw up the hair under the winter coat? Like when they are fully shed out (after using one) will the summer coat not be as shiny? I heard this somewhare and I've been using them to shed out recently and I'm worried I'm gonna end up with a dull coat now... Can anyone help? Does it mess up the coat? Thanks a bunch.

I doubt it would mess up the coat underneath, it just helps remove the hair to be shed out anyways.

I think it would make it better b/c you are grooming it as it's growing in and I dunno but I think it should make them nicer

The more you groom, the healthier and shinier your horse's coat. I was just recently introduced to the Shedding Block and LOVE what it is doing to Jetta's coat. It's making both the winter coat and the short summer coat underneath shinier than it already is.

The shedding block you speak of, is it the black porous one? I have one like that and it's an absolute dream!! It evan takes fly eggs off in the summer effortlessly. It's just great!!!!

I just got a black porous one but have not tried it out yet. It is still cold here and they are shedding bad. I'm afraid to take too much off and leave them cold! I'm just grooming every other day. I'm looking forward to trying it out though. I hope it works!

Yep, that's the one! There is another boarder at my barn that uses it as well, and she told me that originally they were for bot eggs....then people began to notice how nicely they work on the rest of the body and now it's marketed as an all-body thing. I LOVE it....makes the shedding time of year so much easier!
