grooming equipment

is it a good or bad thing to purchase used grooming supplies? Brushes, and such? I have tons of hoof pics, but for some reason I keep losing my brushes... I think the neighbors dog runs off with them...

I would say it's not a bad thing to purchase used grooming supplies. Just disinfect them really well before using them so that you do not spread any kind of infections and such that the previous horse might have had that you're not aware of. Even if there was nothing wrong with the previous horse, it's still a good preventative measure to take just in case. Then you'll have nothing to worry about.

Sure...no problem using Per-owned brushes...LOL

Just make sure they are disinfected really well before you use them on your horses. Hot soapy water with a lil disinfectant tossed on for good measure...soak them a few minutes, scrub them against each other, rinse well and air dry!

Why spend stupid $$ on new brushes when you loose an old one if you have access to used...spend the $$ elsewhere...like a new bridle, saddle pad, leg wraps.
Plus think about how you are saving the environment...
