Question Grooming classes?

Are there such things as grooming classes or seminars? If there are can you tell me of any in or around Wisconsin?

I've never heard of a seminar, but you can get lots of good books and videos on grooming. I personally REALLY like the book "Grooming To Win 2". It covers the basics for clipping, banding, braiding, and has a lot of good tips for showgrooming.

It's by a bunch of different professional groomers from different disciplines. It's kinda gathered information from everywhere put together! It also has these cool laminated cards that you can put in the barn while you're working about clipping, braiding, etc. I bet you could find it on e-bay if you do a search for it. A freind is borrowing mine right now, so sorry, I'm not much help with who the publisher is and stuff

You can watch for a horse symposium or fair. Like Equifest or stuff like that.

Lots of products, lots of books and information. Lots of people to ask.

Depending on what kind of grooming you want to do, you can get with a good barn and learn a LOT of stuff. That's how I learned to brush a horse. I helped people I knew and watched what they did.

Though I'm still trying to get the plaits and stuff down. More complicated than straight brushing by far!!

Hello Shortcake. I live in Northern Illinois so maybe I could help. I learned grooming hands-on through a summer camp (Not really a camp...more like a program) and we got 1.5 hours of grooming and then 2 hours of riding in. If you're looking for a stable or something here's a great directory for us Midwest people:

Just about any riding instuctor or experienced horseman would be willing to give you a few lessons about grooming horses if you bat your eyelids and smile sweetly. You may have to pay a penny, but poeple will give the lessons for free since its only grooming, and its for your horse's best intrest(not to mention that they'll get you to groom some of their horses for nothing)

Oster and Andis do that at things like the Equine Affair we just had here in CA. The gals name who held the seminar was Dana Boyd-Miller.

So yes to the question above about seminars for grooming.
