| Full Member | Green Dressage/ Jumper prospect I posted him a little while back and he was a handful then from lack of work. I have been working him semi consistantly and he has come around a lot. I had a 16 yr old come out and ride him and he did fine but she had been rideing for the last few years too. I would love to see him get somwhere where he will have more consistant work and maybe get out and show. Here is his story: First I will say he is not my horse but I am trying to get him in shape to be sold for someone else. My friends live in Ohio and foaled this horse on there farm. They primarily do western riding and he is more suited for English, possibly jumping or dressage. He is an 8 yr old 16hh (maybe a bit bigger) paint gelding with a very stocky build to go with his height. He has had no injuries, has great solid leg conformation and has never been sick. He was broke as a 3 yr old shown once in an APHA futurity in English pleasure. The trainer wanted to keep him but the owners were trying to promote a stallion and didn't have enough money to keep two in training. He was brought home and rode around lightly mostly western and mostly trail riding. They also taught him to free jump over some plastic 55 gallon drums they had. They said he loved it and would sometimes even jump them on his own with no one out with him. He has a huge trot and naturally beautiful head carriage that will look good in the ring. He needs an experienced rider due to him not being ridden a lot in the past . He will try to act spooky with you but if he knows you aren't going to take it he stops and gets right down to work. The only way I can describe it, and I know this is not true ,is he acts like an abused horse and takes a while to trust you. They have 9 other horses in their barn and none of them act like him so it's just his personality. He has been turned out with other geldings mares and foals from newborn on up. Right now at my farm he is out with a 2 yr old mini stallion and an 8 yr old qh cross gelding with navicular. He is the boss but not in a real nasty way. He is not a western horse that likes to pitty pat with his head on the ground he is an alert big boy that likes to move out and with the right person and some training will win in the ring. As far as ground manners he doesn't kick or bite he will even just reach out an lick you like a dog once he trusts you but he will shy away if you come at him too quick until he trusts you. I clean his stall with him in it and he just moves around out of the way. He is also very neat in his stall and is an easy keeper. I went out the other day to work him and got some pictures of him. Please excuse all of the mud he was out the night before and laid in the mud and I couldn't seem to get him clean without giving him a bath. Her trainer told her she should be able to get $5000 out of him and we have him listed at $4000 but that is very neg to the right home. If you are interested please feel free to pm me and come out to see him. She will also do a free lease with insurance or even a lease to own type situation she is very neg. as long as he gets a good home. He is really a beautiful horse that needs someone with a lot of time to work him and gain his trust. He's only been here a couple months and is doing very well with me minus the few glitches here and there. ![]() ![]() |

Thanks I hope he finds a home soon too. I'm going to OH in April to pick up my filly and if he isn't sold or leased by then he's going to go back to setting in the field. That would be a BIG waste of a good horse. If I didn't have a 2 yr old son I'd just keep him myself and ride him for fun. But with a baby you don't get much time to ride and that is what he needs and even wants.
