Great news!!!

ok, even though Toby's mom didn't take him on, my husband's mare DID!!! she isn't lactating or anything, but she must have sensed that he was orphaned by her, and she stood by his pen for 2 nights. well, last night i put her in with him and supervised for about an hour, and she was very good with him!! well, today i let them out into the pasture and she even ACTED like his mom towards the other horses. my appy was picking on Toby, and trying to run him, she got btwn them and slammed her back feet into him!!! she is being protective of him. i'm happy about this b/c she will be able to teach him things i couldn't so he gets to be a horse, and with human contact for feeding at the same time!!! Hopefully if my husband ever decides to breed her to another spotted saddle horse, she will be just as wonderful with her own foal!!

thanks sdl1up! i know, and hopefully b/c he has so much interaction with us he will be easy to train. at least i hope. i will be starting to train his Hope(his birth dam) since she isn't nursing, but that'll be about 2 wks from now to let her kind of recover over this again. if she's as easy going as she was before she had him(which she seems to be) then this will be easy,LOL, but i am looking forward to hitting the ground a few times though,LOL.
