hitting the ground sounds fun..... who knows your hubby's mare might start lactating that would be intresting, but you realize you'll have to wean them too eventually right? though it would be more amusing if he was attached to a gelding. glad every thing is going good

yes, i realize i will have to wean them from one another, and i have a place to send him when that time comes. crazi and jubilee i sure do hope everything goes up hill, and it is a GREAT peace of mind knowing he will learn from her things i can't teach him. LOL, and it will be VERY interesting if she started lactating. he suckles on her, she'll squeal a little, and then start eating again,LOL, that's how we know he made contact. so if Hope would have stopped kicking him, he would have suckled off of her. i think he was just too scared after being kicked about 5 times.

That is so sweet. You hear of this once in awhile and it just makes ya smile! Does he sleep in her stall at night too?! What a gem of a mare!

we don't stall them, but they have a LARGE stall type area to get out of the weather.yes, he sleeps with her, and she will stand guard over him. i have some awesome pics of these 2 togther, and i am so amazed at how well she took him,LOL, now if she were lactating,OMG, that would be a miracle in itself!!! but i don't mind the bottle feeding. and IF we were to some reason breed a mare, it would def. be Babydoll, she has been so amazing with Toby and i can just imagine how she will be with one of her own. my husband LOVEs her breed, and we found out she has Tennessee Walker in her, so she may be full walker, and was bred to one that had spots, or was bred from a paint/walker. dunno, but she is a very good mare all around, and this just adds to her value for us!!!(not that she's for sale, BUT, if she had a baby, and someone needed a nursemare, i would def advertise her in the paper as one, b/c she would prolly take on another baby and care for 2. LOL, but as i said, that's IF and WHEN we ever decide to breed her.

female animals are known to start lactating on their own if they have taken in an orphaned animal.
