great jumping lesson....got our confidence back!

well i had a jumping lesson with this GREAT trainer that i mostly use for jumping. she is the greatest rider EVER! hehe....i wanna ride like her! anyways...

today we really just wanted to get minnies confidence back after what happened at the one day event last time (for people who dont know....got eliminated at 4th jump... )

well we just started off on the flat...getting her listning.
then she put out the poles. each one just off the track. went over them fine. the put a little straight up. (with no ground line) may seem strange but she explained to me that it helps horses find their stride (min has trouble with that) and although they may tap the fence more than usual....it gets the to judge correctly. she put the jump up to a straight verticle....i would say about 2'7'' with no ground line...and although minnie would hesitate a chip in (i think shes still nervous) she jumped mosty jumps GREAT!

im so pleased for my girl....and she getting her confidence back great!!
i just had to share....

So you figured out that it was her lack of confidence? I am glad to hear she is getting better! How can no ground line help them find their distance better?

thank you guys!
paint: well we think it was that, maybe.
well, by having no ground line....wouldn't help them in the short term....but in the long term....does great. it really makes them think about where they must take off from and how they must judge how high the jump is. it teaches them not to depend on a ground line, as in some competitions (including the ODE) there were NO ground lines infront of the jumps. it really gets them to connect their brain with their feet

Off track here, but are horses good at depth perception?
