Is he in with your mare?

He seems heavier in the front end than the back end. His neck and head are very large compared to the rest of him. What breed is he?

Exactly what went through my head when I saw him! His hind end is... smallish.

ditto to the above posts, but that might also be because he appears to have been clipped on his body and not on his neck, so that might make his neck look larger.

That was my first thought, but his head is still really big.

Do you have any photos of him with either his whole body clipped or his whole body not clipped?

If he were a yearling I'd say "give him time to grow into himself" As it is - he looks like someone who doesnt know a whole lot about horses cut up two or three different horses and sewed pieces of them back together to make one mis-matched horse. Yikes on that tiny little back end. Looks like it belongs to an 11hh pony while the front end belongs to a 15hh draft type. He's got an awfully long back too.
I know icelandics are meant to have large, slightly plain heads but that takes the biscuit.

he has a long and weak loin, over his ribs he is quite short coupled and his wither sits quite far back, but his loin is not great for me. Its like he has been stretched a couple of inches between his last rib and his pelvis.
