rather than buy a grazing muzzle ..try strip grazing your horse so it does not get so much of an area to eat. (seperate a section of the field off with electric fencing) You can also bring her in for 1/2 the day so she can't eat any grass. I always prefer to keep them out so I have a paddock that I call the starvation paddock, it has minimal grass and is good for the horses that are good do-ers.

I really don't like the grazing muzzels as I think it would just really anoy the horse. I also wouldn't want to have one on my horse unsupervised.

well Sally is now going out in like the 'fatty' paddock, but she just jumps the fence bk in 2 her old paddock, i mean the 'fatty' paddock is actually attached to her old field with all her m8's in it, i mean she has tanna & sunny but she really does not like them, & the fence is like 4ft high & she just flys over it, so i figured cauz taht dont work & cauz im not always there with her, she needs a grazing muzzle, i no she wont like it, but she'l get the best 1 there is

why don't you just section off part of the field with all her friends in with electric tape? that way she will be in the same field with them. You can make the tape go quite high if you are frightened she will jump, or just put the tape 12ft in front of the fence in the starvation field that you have at the moment. if the tape has a current going through it she is not as likely to jump it and the other fence behind it.

if you are not there all the time, then I wouldn't suggest a grazing muzzle. .. but then I wouldn't turn out in a head collar either.

Mustang, do you have a round pen that you could use to hold Sally in when you don't want her to graze? If not, maybe you could look into buying a used one - it is aggrevating to have a horse who refuses to stay in her pen.

nope, i want 1 but no we dont, i mean theres always the jumping paddock, but i would hav 2 mow it like every 3 days or so but she does like in there, however im worried it wouldnt work, cauz the fence is only 3ft so she could easily jump that if she put her mind 2 it

yeah, if the fence is only 3 feet that def. would not work. She does not need to be encouraged to jump, risking injury to herself.

Another thing....if she's going to ever have a foal, you will have to secure her better - if the mare decides to jump and leaves her foal behind, the foal is going to go nuts trying to follow mama and will most definitely get hurt. Just something to think about.

err but she is not pregnant is she and as its June already I would say that she is not going to be covered this year unless you want a late foal .. so you are looking at 2 years away before she produces a foal.

.. I would use that field attached and build a 20ft fence all around it.

(like Jurassic park) LOL!!
