Grazing muzzle

I just bought a grazing muzzle and I am not sure if it fits right or not. I have looked at the website for the Best Friend grazing muzzle and they say they should fit like a halter but mine seems to not go behind her cheeks and looks like it sits too far up on her cheeks like it is too short for her. I also see other pictures online that they sit the way mine is sitting on my mare it is about mid cheek. Which way is right?

ALL the models of grazing muzzles that are halter-muzzle combos that I have tried - Best Friends, Jacks, Weaver, and another one whose name I can't remember - have the throatlatch piece that comes really low, like in front of the jowl. I hate it - my one horse learned that he can just rub it off over his ears

As for the rest of the fit - an inch, give or take, between the end of their nose and the muzzle piece.

Entirely depends on your horse.

Weaver's largest size isn't large enough for my WB gelding. I love the quality of the BF, but they are so flippin' heavy that I don't use them anymore - I hate the thought of all that weight hanging on their poll for hours and hours and hours. My WB gelding wears the largest size of the brand whose name I can't remember My boarder's TBxPerch gelding, built like a solid Foundation QH with a nice big "old" head, fits a Weaver large just fine.

Thanks JBandRio,

I was about to send it back because it looks so wierd but I guess that is the way it is to fit. Now I just need to get over the "ohhhh she can't eat anything" and let her get use to it. I have been working with her a little at a time this past week but she gets sooo mad and tries to shake it off. But I have to do something she looks like she is ready to give birth anyday now (don't worry it's not possible).
