Just help him live his life to the fullest,talk about your favorite times you have had with him, tape it to,so you will always have his voice,write down things that will be valuable to you later,such as what he liked doing as a boy, or his parents names and thier parents names,that way, you will have a background on him,so one day,if you have children,they can see thier geneaology background,and take a lot of pictures. If he is able to eat some of his favorite foods, take something to him,this meant a lot to my mother,when she was dieing. Sorry to hear,he is so ill,make the most of his year,you will have him. I'm very sorry to read this news. Just remember that while our loved ones are with us still, it is not time to grieve but a time to appreciate,celebrate and love before they are gone. Make sure he knows how much he is loved, share some quiet moments alone with him and cherish your time together....

another update....

they have decided not to bring him up and off the respirator. His vital signs have not been stable enough to do so. So, they are going to see how he is in the morning and if they're stable they will begin slowly bringing him up.
