IF she has appaloosa markings and characteristics she CAN be registered with the American Appaloosa association and NO spay is required. The registry does require a DNA test and A the fees is approximatley 150. Markings are the biggest requirement for this registry bloodlines not so much. Once she is registered, her foals can be registered with them as well.

IF you do NOT have the ApHC paperwork and the dam is NOT registered ApHC and the sire sno NOT either ApHC AQHA, TB or Arabian the NO she cannot be registered ApHC. The ApHC posts their aged horse specials on their website. and in their publications so you have to check the Appaloosa Journal or keep checking the website.

I dont know if you can do that, but it would sure make trying to register her baby (when we bred) A LOT easier is she was registered. They have aged horse registery specials? How do I know when they're going on??

Our Quarter Horses are registered with AQHA, and as long as they are eligable for it....FQHA. (We only have one mare that is below the standards for this Foundation registry. *Yet she is built like a foundation bred mare...lol. She's mid-upper 70's*)

And we've got one gelding that is a Paint....he is registered with APHA.

AQHA Registered as an Appendix.

I prefer Registered as I value pedigree, heritage, and am looking to improve the breed in many ways. Looking at taking the racing route...but still not quite sure yet. But without papers, without knowing the heritage you cannot improve the breed properly and safely. Because you may like one set of genetics, but there are other genetics lurking in the DNA that you have to be careful and Know what is there. HYPP, HERDA, etc. Which papers are the only way of doing this PROPERLY with the proper research, DNA testing, etc.

I have owned eight registered horses and one grade. My cuurent boy is a grade and I would not sell him for the world. I have to admit, he has the second best temperment of all of them.

Shenandoah had no papers, and his conformation made him seem like a mix. Guesses were he was a lil TB, a lil Stdbd, a lil gaited... I use to joke I owned the last Narragansett pacer. Raps had no papers when I bought him, or for years until the appendix registry he is in Reopened. He got his papers at age 10, his fajta # is 108. Whether he had papers or not made no difference to me, just an added bonus to a 'perfect' horse.
