| Senior Member+ | Got to "practice" bucking, galloping, and jumping!
I had my lesson today on Cat, and boy was she ever spunky! We even did a few laps of a walk, and then about 10 of trotting before we even started really working and she was STILL really energetic. We were working a lot of cantering stuff today, so when I first asked for the canter she even did a buck! It made me realize just how HARD Buddy had bucked those times, because Niki said she was proud of me for not falling off that "big buck." Maybe I'm better at sitting them in an english saddle? Hmm... something to think about. Anyway, when we were doing the cantering stuff, she kept taking off on me at a full gallop trying to catch up with the girl and her horse that I ride with! We were tearing around the arena, and I was only half heartidly trying to slow her because I was laughing so hard! Then Niki set out some cones by the four corners of the arena that we had to ride around. Again, we were cantering and Cat was resisting the bit and not steering properly. We started getting nearer to one of the cones, and all of a sudden I knew we were going to hit it, EXCEPT Cat sped up (in the canter) and took a full blown leap at it! It caught me off guard a little bit, but I managed to thrust myself up into a somewhat 2 point position (it was a HUGE jump that she made) and stay on with no bumping. So overall it was a very interesting lesson, but I had so much fun anyway. Cat is just so funny to ride.

Yes, I know... but I guess I still felt safe on Cat, hehe. She doesn't totally lose her head, she was clearly just very excited today and thus why she was acting so silly. Buddy acts badly all the time unless he's completely exhausted from some previous activity for some reason!

lol, yes. It cracks me up because she is used in a therapeutic lesson by this 3 year old that I help out with, and we try to teach her new words, but she gets so confused because we also have barn cats! Poor thing...

LOL, sure sure. I thought it was hilarious, because this girl who's around 13 and thinks I'm a God said I looked really good out there! I couldn't do anything but laugh when she said that though because I knew how much I was bumping around with how fast Cat was going and how much she was zigzagging all over the place! It was fun though.
