Don't worry if you don't get to it, I have played with the Fish Inserts myself, so I know how they work, but I've seen more than one person on here ask, and honestly I think it's just too "simple" of a concept for many people to grasp.

When you say it only came with 2, do you mean 2 of the same size (1pair) or 2 pairs, each pair different sizes?? If you mean the 1st option, check to be sure there aren't already some inserted. As far as my limited knowledge goes, they come with 2 pairs, both of different sizes.

Crayon should come look here, as I honestly suspect this kinda saddle would fit Crayon.....going to link her.

I didn't SEE anything around the pommel/gullet around besides the gullet..want to tell me where you put them? LOL

So, so far The thorowgood only comes with 1 set of fish inserts

see the little pocket I circled? thats where the fish go.... you just shove them right in, once partway in it slides in easily. the ridged side towards the horse, the smooth side towards you, irrc....

very nice saddle btw!!!! I love the billeting system!!!! can't wait to see photos of how it fits.

My verdict:

Its WAY to narrow..and look at that gullet! The back panels could be better..but I'm not sure yet if its the placement of the saddle or what so I'm going to wait on that.

After finding out where the fish system is located I believe the thick fish were inserted in the saddle. So its making the saddle narrower in some areas.

The shape is right and shes lost muscle so I think once shes fit again the back panels will be acceptable.

I also think if its not the fish the x-wide gullet should do the trick but I've got to order it in.

I think this may be it!

As Buck pointed out, that is where the fish go, and it does look to be some in there.

As for the fit, I acutally quite like how the rear panels fit. I would move it back a bit, and take the fish inserts out completely and then re-take the photos. Also I think NOT using the front-most billet might be a good thing on this horse?? It may help free-up the shoulder, and it won't cause the girth to angle forwards when on her, like it is in the photos. But I'm not convinced going up 1 gullet size is going to be enough......or at least not enough should she muscle up any more.
