I saw these at the top an was really curious to read up on them. I look forward to hearing your results with them! Good luck!

Well, I hope to have more of an update tomorrow... I tried them on her and they seem to fit well. They have the expected 1/8 inch or so relief all the way around her hoof when I set her hoof in and looked at it before locking it in... When I tightened it down it seemed ok except for 2 things: 1. the straps have a little too much extra length left over (which I expect on the pastern strap as she has tiny legs) but I need to adjust my cables on the bottom strap to take up the slack on that strap. 2. there is a bit of a gap between her hoof wall and the front of the boot... not sure if this is ok or if this will go away when I adjust the cables or what (it almost seems like her toe touches the front but due to the angle of her hoof there is some room left in the angle of the hoof (downward) - does that make sense?) On a positive note she moved out well in them in the round pen, and was very happy to have something between her feet and the mean old rocks!! More tomorrow, and pics... |

It sounds like you are going to have some of the same problems I have. The boot is a little too big for her foot and you may end up with dirt and some twisting. My fitter wanted to see the boot snug around the hoof wall and never mentioned anything about the 1/8" of relief that you're talking about. It is all going to depend on how close the foot size is to the boot sizes available. The pastern strap is supposed to be very loose, so I've not had a problem with that adjustment (imagine that! LOL). Shortening the cable will help some with the toe strap length problem, but I'm finding that it's still not enough if the boot is too large to begin with. Still haven't heard back from my fitter. Maybe she has to admit defeat in my case. |

Well I was short on time today so of course lame me doesnt have pictures But tightening the cables helped with the extra length on the strap around the boot, but as I mentioned before the pastern strap is going to be long no matter what as she has tiny legs. What I noticed was this: She seems nice and snug in her fit with her toe to the front of the boot and her coronet band/hoof bulb fitting against the back. The only gap I saw was between the hoof wall and the front edge of the boot but that is due to the angle of her hoof not the length or width of it/of the boot - so changing sizes won't fix that. This gap is very small now though... I could maybe get a dime in it. My barefoot trimmer didn't tell me to get the boots with the 1/8 inch clearance... she measured callie and when I looked at the sizing on their site I saw that she was a little too big for the size 00 so I looked at the size 0's. I considered having the 0's trimmed down but they trim them 1/4 if an inch at a time and that would make it exactly snug on her on a fresh hoof trim, leaving no room for growth between trims and no room for hoof changes since she is new to being barefoot. So I went with my educated guess, a standard size 0. Sorry for the book, I'll try to get some pics when I go out maybe tomorrow to show you what I mean about the fitment. |

oh sorry one other thing... after we adjusted the cables and put them on her I trotted her in hand over some rocky areas at our barn- she did great!! which is nice because she is still a little ouchie on bad rocks being new to being barefoot. |

I am in the search for boots for my TB who is thin soled and has very, very flat feet. I Event, take lessons every Tuesday where we do 1/2 hour dressage and 1/2 hour stadium, plus we will be doing the Winter Series Hunter/Jumper Schooling Shows and I need a set of boots for him that will work for what we need. We had to pull his shoes yesteday because from not only being shod all his life, he has never been without shoes and there will be no where for the ferrier to put nails. He was on an 8 week schedule, but really needs to be on a 6, but my ferrier said that it would be very hard to keep a shoe on those brittle walls. Over 8 weeks, my TB never even grew 1 inch of a foot for the ferrier to work with. Soooooo I am in very desperate need of boots for him. What do you guys think of the renegade's now that you've had time to use them? My TB is 4 3/4 width and 5 long. I am looking for size 1's in Easyboot Epics or the Old Mac's - but I am interested in these Renegade Boots too! |

Sorry I never saw this until now I am really liking my renegades. I only bought them for trails, so I don't know how they would do with jumping, dressage, etc but I have really liked them so far - as have the others at my barn who purchased them. |

Thanks for your post callie's mom! I do appreciate it! No worries, I ended up buying 4 Easyboot Epics which I just got in the mail yesterday. I am anxious to try them out! When I can afford to do so, I would love to get the Renegade's! |
