Got a Question on gaits in Appys

Ok, I've never heard of this in Appaloosa's. Has anyone heard of the Indian shuffle in Appy's? If so, what is it that they are actually doing? Racking, single footing, etc?

Ok, and I understand that single footing is 3 feet off the ground, and my husband says he's witnessed my QH doing this!! I've never caught him single footing, but it's possible, I don't know.

What's y'all's thoughts on this?

I've never heard this term. I had an app mare and she had 4 regular gaits.....

Hmm...it will be interesting to see what info gets posted here- great thread!

Wow you caught my interest too. We have Apples at the ranch.. Haven't seen this in any of them.. Never heard of it either.

Although a friend did say in one of my more recent videos of Miracle trotting, she said he's nearly gaiting.. ? ? ? Miracle is Apple x TB

Hmmm, you got me interested too.
I have had people tell me that my Appy mare looked gaited.
She feels like she has some ty pe of "subtle" gait to where it looks like a normal trot, but it's do darn smooth and it just doesn't feel like one. I would think that she'd be bumpy being 14.2hands with short legs lol. I figured that maybe since she isn't registered and we don't know if she's purebered that she was a cross between Appy[or as PR would say, Applehehe I love that]and something gaited.
But hmmm, I'm gonna have to keep checking back here to find out more info!

Yea, I'm right along with you guys on that. I have never heard of a gait in a Appy called the Indian Shuffle. I was like, what is it? Some sort of new dance? LOL

I'm not sure, but it's quite possible it is a shuffle...just something totally different from any other gait. There are a LOT of different gaits.
