I am really curious about this, if anyone has a picture of a wild bay, I would love to see it.

He is a very handsome guy! Beautiful, kind face. Pretty head. Looks like he's put together rather nicely as well! And I bet he's a little powerhouse.

I'm no expert on color either, but I love his coloring! Very unique....looks like a bay maybe diluted with some other gene thrown into the mix to make him look like that?
I've only really ever seen 'loud' splashes, so he doesn't look like a typical splash to me, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the gene
Very cute horse IMO

I have never seen pangare' effect the mane and tail on a black based horse... that is what get sme about this guy. Wild bay base is definite possibility, but I would still say cream was there as well.

Is there such thing as cream on a wild bay? What would it end up being?!

Buckskin. The only real difference is that the black points dont go up as high. So I guess it would be wild buckskin

Exactly. Cream can effect any base color. A buckskin whose points don't start until really low on the leg. Wild Buckskin.

Wow, cool. I just learned a whole bunch of stuff I didn't know

I have spoke more to his owner, and things are slowly moving forward.

I like that his color may be a little unique. I have not heard of a "wild bay" before, or "wild buckskin." It was the fact that I had never seen anything similar and the white in the mane and tail and the odd little half moon on his forehead (not sure if that would be considered offset or not) that made me think he was possibly a splash.

I have only ever seen one other horse that was similarly colored, she was a mini, almost white, but had that white and black mane an tail. She lived with the same people that I got my poor little Lizzy from. I wanted her too, but couldn't afford another mouth and vet bill at the time

I know this is not the best picture and you can't really see her legs, but do you think this might be the same kind of color?

She is definitely buckskin... and fairly typical shading for a mini. They are often wild buckskins, or may she may have been too young to have her full points yet.
