I probally shouldn't be replying, since I know close to nothing to breeding, but I will anyways.

What breed is your mare? She kinda has a long neck. I like how she us built. How tall is she?

I personally wouldn't breed to him. He's like.. a hugemongous tank (no offense). I do like his color though. Ya know those body-builders who are super mondo muscular? But kinda look fat when you first look at them because of all the bulk? That's kinda what I see when I look at him. He's really nice, I do like him, but I don't think they would make the best couple. Just me though. Maybe something a little less, uhm.. tankish? I can help you look (tomorrow though, I need to go to bed! Actually finish my h/w).

Overall, I think he is gorgeous, but to answer your question, I'll go with no.

Again, I know like nothing about breeding and studs and that kinda stuff. I know that they are both gorgeous horses though

He's by an AQHA world champion out of a own daughter of a 2x AQHA reserve world champ. Thats a whole lot more than most horses have.

Well you pay by the pic and they put the most important two to halter breeders, head and front 3/4. but they also put a link to their website and two clicks got me here

http://www.everafterranch.com/deuce02.htm

with full pedigree & more pics.

I know everyone has their own opinion on studs, but I think you're being a little hard on him. There are no decent grullo studs in the halter biz, when you want to breed a color in, it wont happen overnight. He is the best grullo halter QH I have seen.

Seeing the horses that are winning at the bucky world shows, and knowing how sick QH breeders are of all them "red" horses, I think this guy could help fill the gap.

I'm not sure why you would want to cross a halter horse on a xbred TB/morgan though. Halter horses are not known for their riding ability, and its not going to have halter ability being half TB. There are some very nice riding/cow bred grullo studs that might throw a better riding baby.

I wouldn't breed to him. He doesn't have a nice butt, he's downhill, tied in up front, his front end is heavier than the back end. IMHO he'd be a better gelding. The only thing going for him is color, and that's not a high priority reason to breed.

What are you looking to get out of the foal? Hunters? If so, AQHA or USEQ? Barrels, halter, trail? Your girl needs a stallion with a good hind end and good neck set - those seem to be her weak points.

What are you going to want the foal to do would be my question. I honestly don't think that particular stallion would suit her as they both have flaws in the same areas.

They both have pretty long backs, short-ish legs, and need better angles and more length to their hindquarters.

She has better legs and probably nice movement than he does.

He has a more flashy color and a prettier head, but I just don't feel that he would improve on her conformation. Looking at his one weanling filly, it looks like passes on his small hip and long back, something you probably don't want.

If you like the "tank" look, there are plenty of stallions with just as much width and muscle, but much better conformation out there for just as good a price.

DUH! I'm sorry, TBs on the brain.

I am not trying to slam your choices, it's just I've seen halter horses move and they are about as comfortable as a jackhammer to your behind Since your mare looks like a good rider, I was figuring you were looking for the same in a baby.

Tell us more about what you want in a horse and maybe we can help (though I bet everyone will have a different idea ) I think the hardest (and most important) part of breeding is getting a really good picture in your head of what you want the baby to be, then you find a stud that will cross with the mare to produce it.

I see a stallion that's in pasture condition. His neck's not sweated down and he's not show shape. He is slighly heavier in the chest than hip and for a halter horse he does have a light hip. Now, I see his angulation being correct for a QH. I think with about 60 days of working him, his hip and belly would look much better. His back looks average. Not too short, not too long. As for the foals he's sired... again, it's amazing what a little work can do for a foal. I've seen quite a few babies that were ugly ducklings turn out to be some gorgeous grown horses.

As for him riding... not all halter horses are jack hammers and not all pleasure horses are smooth. We had a son of the Invester that would knock your teeth out at anything but a walk!

Are you specifically looking for a grulla QH? What about paints?
