Let me see....horse related.....that I feel strongly about.......
okay...here goes.....

While I am sure I could think of more...those long-time members will not be the least be shocked or surprised to read the following from me.

I think that Coggins Testing is a waste of time and money...but worse....it KILLS HORSES!
People get upset when they hear of healthy, useful horses in this country being sold and processed for people to eat in other countries, yet no one gets angry and upset over the quarantining and killing useful, apparently healthy horses which test positive for EIA!

I wish that more horse owners would educate themselves as to the REALITIES of EIA and Coggins Testing....there is a LOT of good information available on the health forum's past discussions.
I feel that if more horse owners learned the FACTS we could get all of the different Coggins Test requirements repealed throughout this country and then maybe an actual vaccine would finally be made available for the horses!

Okay, here is another one:

I really can't stand the performance and racing Futurities for the 2 & 3 year old horses.
I really wish that the ages for Futurities were 4 & 5.
I just cannot see pushing, and stressing, those still young and still developing bones, muscles and minds for prize money and titles.
I wish that while you still had to enter/nominate (and pay to keep the horse eligible) for the Futurity as the event now required...the actual class did not take place until the horse was 4 or 5 years old. Not only would you have a chance at winning more money...the BEST part would be that these horses would be around, and sound, a LOT longer!!!!!

okay here i go... this might take a while.. and i will be adding things to it.. from time to time

I hate it when people breed their back yard mix bred mares to back yard mix bred stallions and get back yard mix bred ponies... i think it is irrisponsible (sp?)

I hate it when people treat me like i don't know how to ride just because i took lessons from a friends sister.. in a back yard... i was taking lessons at a barn a couple months ago to see what i could learn... and they put me on a half dead old horse for my lessons... and they didn't teach me anything...

I hate people who think they know everything (not on the forum but in real life) and then you look at their horses and they are skin and bones... and lame...

I do not like people who starve, beat or abuse horses but i dont think that anything bad other than maybe a fine should be done to them....

I don't like it when people ask for help and then they ignore it...

I really don't like it when people ask for a certan critique (sp?) such as sutablilty(sp) for dressage or something and all they get is... "that horse shouldn't be a stallion" especialy (sp) when it is not their horse but a horse they are working with and they have no sway over the fact that the horse is a stallion... except maybe a suggestion to the owner... that is not what they asked for....

I have been reading about the slaughter issue... i used to be totaly against slaughter but i have been reading alot about it and now i know that if you stop slaughter completely you will have horses starving to death... .. so like alot of memers on this forum i am for slaughter....

I really love the support that people on this forum give... and the fact that if i have a question that i might not want to ask my instructor or something i can ask you guys and i know i will get an answer,.... no matter how stupid i think the question is....

I love reading about other people horses and i love the uplift i get from soming to this site!!

wow this has been quite a long post... i just started typing and let my fingers do the rest... great thread by the way!!

ok here i go!!!!....

i really hate how people think they know the wright thing about the topic and dosen't stop until you say something like "your wright" when you know that they aren't...you give in because you tired of them keep nagging at their own opinions.

i don't like how people won't change their mind about a certain topic and won't even try to execpt what the other person is saying....it almost like it blowing right past them as in a wind storm...it's really annoying!!!

Then i really dilsike that on this forum when people make a contest (in the forum contest part) they don't even finish it. i mean we take the time to download the pictures and post and what do you get....Not a contest...you get nothing..if you are going to start a contest then finish it. Or if you know that you don't have the time to start one but you do anyways then you SHOULDN'T of started it.

The one thing that i can't stand is that some people (im not saying ALL) under estimate the people without shinny horse tack or expensive tack. for example: i dont have a REALLY shinny saddle like the 1,000 dollar ones and during a horse show i bet a girl who had one of those saddles and a horse that she had some one else trian for her. She got all mad at the judge b/c she thought that the judge placed her wrong b/c of that....it really gets on my nerves.

Also i really hate when some of the parents of the horse showers (sp?) get so involed into horse showing that they don't listen/care what the daughter or son thinks...all they care about is their child winning...one of my friends mom was like that...and she hated it.

I hate when you offer some one help then they say no and go ask someone else to help them.

It really gets on my nerves when people abuse their horse simly beacuse they didn't place high in a competion. i mean really a horse can't do everything perfectly perfect for you 24/7 and you get mad at the horse for some stupid reason...so just get of it.that really bugs me...ALOT

When people have traineers train their horses for horse showing i think that is ridiculous. i mean if your going to get first place for horsemanship it make NO sence giving it to that person b/c they had some else train the horse. i don't mind when your getting lessons with your horse ir when you sending your horse to the trainer's to get it real trian done...but when its for getting higher/better placing...that really gets on my nerves...most people (i think) buy a horse for a companionship, showing, a hobbie, or an intreset or whatever they buy the horse for is to be for you and the horse togther getting a bound not a trainer training for you to get higher placings.

but i REALLY enjoy and love coming to this forum and posting and seeing other post/pictures!

My turn!

It really bugs me when people post asking for critiques when all they want is for people to tell them h ow beautiful and well put-together their horse is, even with it's terrible feet, sway back, cow hocks, 3 legs etc... And then get extremely defensive when people point out conformation faults. No horse has perfect conformation and if you want to hear that yours is the first, don't post asking for a critique.

Showing. Little kids (eg 5 years old) riding their $10K+ ponies kitted out with the double bridle and everything. That really gets up my nose. How is a 5 year old meant to know how a double works, or how to use it? And they more often than not get placed waaay above the kids on their small scruffy ponies that actually put the work in washing and brushing their pony, these kids can ride well but get ignored because their ponies aren't sparkling and 'flawless'.

When spoilt people get whatever horse they like, simply because they want a new horse. And then sell it because they: a) got eliminated in a competition. b) fell off. c) couldn't actually ride it. d) made it lame. e) didn't actually want a mare/gelding/stallion. f) any other reasons.

When people buy a clearly unsuitable horse but honestly believe that they are capable of handling/riding it and using it to it's full potential. What's the point in buying a $50000 professionally trained horse for a green, nervous rider to potter around at home on?

I hate it when threads 'turn personal' and members attack each other. The OP asked for advice/opinions and that's what they got. End of story, no need to get defensive. If you can't take it, either don't post or grow a backbone.

I don't like the anti-slaughter argument as it's simply irrational. Has nobody thought of how impractical it is? How on earth are you going to stop people breeding their horses for X years? What will happen to all the horses that would be slaughtered? There's nowhere for them to go, they were sent to slaughter for a reason. The issue people need to address is the method and treatment involved in slaughter, not the concept of slaughter itself.

People who ride lame horses. I don't need to elaborate. Get a vet out, rest your horse, look after it and stop living in your own little world where your happiness is more important than that of those around you.

That's all I can think of at the moment, I might add stuff later.

I love rain.

I love the sense of community we have here, and how we are always so willing to help people out, even with the history and attitudes of some posters, we are willing to offer our advice. And get shot down for it. But offer again next time they want help.

good idea...

I love this forum, and i respect every single person on here, even if i dont like what they say...

The thing that annoys me the most on here is people preending they know more then they really do. What is the point in pretending, when someone will eventually catch you put anyway...

Another annoying thing( and i know its natural thing to do) lol... is when people jump to onclusions. EG_ In a critique, if somebody says change something, ome people think they are getting told that they are a bad rider, when infact, they have asked meonce for help.

Also, same as above, it is annoying when someone asks to be critiqued, and then argues with someone

oh... and also, how annoying is it when people make totally pointless threads!! lol

BUT---

I have a few close friends on here, and i love chatting to people who, like me, love horses.

so on this thread i would like to say thanks to everyone

I know I'm a newbie and all, so I hope its okay for me to post on this aswell.

-I don't like it when people are all like "Ohh racing is so mean, the poor horses! Tons of them are injured" I'm not a fan of racing, but thats just a bunch of bologna. In ANY horse-sport, theres a chance the horse can get injured. What, you think horses never go down in cross-country? You better believe they do. Even in one considered not so dangerous ie, Western Pleasure, a horse could get hurt. Its not just racing.

-A green horse should not be your first horse. Even if you've been riding "4 years" your first horse should be a well-broke, done that been there kind of horse. I'm not saying go out and buy a close to retirement horse, but just get one with experience.

-I hate it when showparents push their kids too much. I've heard stories of parents yelling at kids for getting a second place. Thats just not right. They're kids, they're showing for fun not to win. When I'm older if I have a kid who rides and shows, I'll be darn proud of them even if they don't place.

-Buying a young horse for a kid to "grow up with it"..not a good idea.

-If you don't know about something, ask - don't pretend you know where the withers are if you don't, don't say you know how to do dressage if you don't. If you really don't want to post here asking, then google it or ask a trainer. I know I don't know as much as a lot of people here do, and if I want to know something - I'll ask. Plain and simple.

-Just because your mare is "sooooo cute" doesn't mean that she's breeding quality.

-I hate the mare sterotype. Sure, some mares are fiesty and slightly angry, but I have known some very nice and sweet mares. Theres just as much of a chance of gelding being a hothead as there is of a mare.

I very much dislike:
~Sterotypes. Examples: People who put their show horses into training don't know how to ride. Western Pleasure horses are crippled and in pain.
~When people bash something they have no experience in.
~People who think horse slaughter is a GOOD thing. Horses dieing is NEVER a good thing. But sadly it is nessecary.
~Forum members who are disrespectful or get very mean when they don't agree with something. Lets EDUCATE in a calm manner or simply state, "I disagree." Without having to add, "Thats just stupid" etc... Though sometimes its very hard

I very much like:
~Horse slaughter threads that stay civil, they educate so many people!
~Forum members who can admit when they are wrong and apologize.
~Seeing pictures of everyones horses

All of this is just a little sample of what I like and dislike
