Not quite sure how I deserved the BAD ADVICE slap??? Kinda rude. But anyway, to each his/her own. I've had good luck, as have many of my fellow trainers with tying the head down. There obviously isn't a "one size fits all" with training. Some horses respond to it, others don't. I am trying to HELP barnprincess by using tools she already has, not going out and buying ridiculous gadgets (What the heck is a pessoa lunging rig?) You could also try ground driving her with two lightweight lunge lines.

A horse can be hollow with hocks trailing with his head down, so forcing the head down doesn't solve that issue.

ive seen the ppessoa system its over $100 so im going to eventually just invest in a lunging caveson some side reins and a good ol surcingle. horse.com has them really really cheap.

i have a for sale floating around no one wants anything haha.

Its been non stop rain here so they've been in their stalls haha its supposed to clear up so if it does ill get some vids today

Just know that you cannot get a good lunge caveson for "cheap". There are far too many that don't fasten in the right places, or correctly, and the caveson part pulls all over the place, including into the horse's eye.

Yes, they can, but if it hasn't been tried I'd say it deserves a go. Obviously the lunging with the head up in the air isn't working either.

You're right, lunging a star-gazer doesn't work. At all.

But tying the head down doesn't work either. It makes a "pretty" picture, but it's just addressing a symptom.

I don't know how to take the above quote. 1) Do I take it as an arguement that because you've posted before & never received comments that the horse is uncomfy & therefore you're not convinced that's what it is this time?? 2) Or do I take it as just a comment that you're slightly frustrated that no one commented before??

Perhaps nothing was mentioned earlier because, like I said the videos are VERY hard to see anything from them, so perhaps they weren't able to see it, but also it's FAR LESS noticeable in those videos than it is in the more recent ones your posted. Either way, don't be upset that it wasn't mentioned, be happy that it has been brought to your attention! It's better late than never that's for sure.

Also by the looks of things, I would highly advice NOT doing anything, or using any traning equipement at all on this horse until she is seen & the problems solved. To do anything else will just enstill the use of wrong muscles, and if you use something to "keep the head down" (in any way shape or form) you'll end up with NEW wrong muscle developement from it.

I also want to echo JB's comments about buying a cheap lunging caveson -- I have a cheap one (it was given to me) and I honestly find it more of a hassel than just using a straight up halter because it isn't a good one. I'm anti-pesso training rig, as I really dislike the idea of having a horses' mouth in any way shape or form connected to any of their legs. I'm not going to get into this here, but for what it's worth I don't advice using them.

Honestly, give the mare some down time, till you are able to come up with the funds for a chiro to see her, then you'll have more answers & you're mare won't get worse.
