Honeslty I wouldn't do a darn tooten thing with that horse till you have the chiro out. I also want to say that the longer you leave it, the worse it will get & the more aggitated your horse can get & honestly, the more you build wrong muscles! To me *that kinda un-comfy-ness* isn't a "chiro will come when I have the money" kinda deal, it's the "I'll beg, plead, borrow & steal to come up with the funds" sorta deal.

As to what to look for, My big boy right now needs another chiro adjustment, I'll take some video tonight so everyone can see. I have some "before video" of me riding him, but at least it's something to compair & develop an eye for.

well unfortunatley im in a very very hard spot we're moving into our new apartment the first. So i have no money right now. I wish i could borrow it but my dads already lending me the first month's rent as i only had enough for the security. I have to save up for it myself. Its no one's buisness but my mom's kicking us out and my dad's helping us. (mom wears the pants haha). SO as soooon as i have it i'll be getting her adjusted.

Not to sound ignorant. But i've been riding her all this time, she only got her leads correclty with shoes and the shoes were in the front not the hind. thats why i am so confused right now. >.< i can try to find old video's for refrence but idk if i can find them.

I'm assuming when you say she picked up her leads when she had shoes on that, this was some time ago? Remember that things get worse with time, or can just pop up one day. Take the big guy I mentioned; we were doing TOTALLY awesome foir about 2weeks, then small tiny things that weren't anything large started occuring. I let them slide, thinking they were nothing, but they WERE in the back of my mind. Then I got on one day and it was dead smack in my face -- horse was just not comfy. Not OFF (I'll get videos so you can see) but no comfy, he didn't feel the same. I got off, free lunged him & what I thought from sitting up there was right. I didn't even have his bridle off before I was on the phone with my chiro lady. Oh and I should also mention, this isn't my horse either, I just train him & his owner was over seas, I made the decision that it needed to be done on my own & was prepared to spend the money out of my pocket if need be (Owners fine with it, agreed I did the right thing)

So, I'm sorry, but saying "she's ok when she was wearing shoes" isn't a very good debate, especially since the shoes were on the front & everyone is seeing issues in the hind. I mean YES puttin shoes on the front might help make her feel different & use slightly different muscles, but you're not solving the issue, which is in the hind end or back.

I get that's hard to believe in all this stuff, but honestly, once you see the massive improvements it makes, you'll *get it*. That's what it took for me , mind you, I have this gift of feel that I feel nearly anything outta place.....and because of that, the guy I train for, as developed his eye! It's really incredible how much stuff like this can really improve your over all equine skills

Why do you keep riding her if she is uncomfortable?? I havent ridden my mare in a month because I need chiro out and I dont have the funds (until now )

Maybe you should give her a break until she is comfy again and that way you arent training the wrong muscles and causing her to be uncomfortable..

I never knew she was in pain.... she never ever showed any signs. shes not lame, she was jumping no problem never fussed or anything, when she was in pain (IE i didnt use a half pad and it was rubbing her, she acted up majorlly) i knew when something was wrong. other than that she never did anything to say mom stop you know what i mean. Im at a barn by myself with just my horse's so its not like some one was like oh oh oh look at that or what ever . I was suggested in the other topic to keep working her even on the wrong lead to help get her muscle's better.

Honestly, I know why no one ever said "horse is lame" in those photos -- those photos are not of good quality at all, and honestly with the camera-man walking around are the HARDEST to look at. Also you're never on a straight stretch in front of hte camera enough for one to judge much. Also depending on what section of HGS you posted these in, will have some bearing on the comments made (ie: you're less likely to get any comments about lameness/saddle fit, rider error in the chat section as you are in the training, or critique, or health sections) Now that being said, I watched these videos and the horse is clearly (at least clearly to my eyes) not comfy in this video: http://family.webshots.com/video/3066755360078841776kJFDFQ?vhost=family Yes she's not *** uncomfy as she is in the current ones, but she is most certainly uncomfy......It now doesn't surprise me she's as uncomfy as she is, seeing that this has been going on since May!

I can't tell a darn tootten thing from any of the other videos because of what I've mentioned above though, however I suspect she's not comfy in any of them.

Now I have to ask re the bolded part above: how did you NOT know?? Can you not feel when the horse beneath your picks up the entirely wrong lead, or even the wrong lead with the front/hind end of the body??

i had her in the training AND health section and got suggestions to keep working on her and she'll get the lead's eventually. no one ever mentioned one word about her looking 'off' or anything that's been pointed out here.

IMHO, I would quit cantering her altogether. Actually, quit riding and just lunge her at the trot. She needs to build a topline and cantering around all day won't build it. With the gelding I trained I would keep his halter on and tie his head down so he couldn't throw it in the air and hollow out. It is much easier to hollow out and not work the *correct* muscles if the head is in the air. Getting her head down will stretch out her back, which will free up her HQ and allow her to move those back legs. And yes, there is definitely something off, and from my experience, it does look like arthritis of the hock. I'd have her checked out. Also, you could try selling some stuff you don't use to pay for her chiro appt. I sold a few saddle pads and came up with the money.

Please do NOT tie her head down!!! Bad advise. If you want to use something to encourage her to round through her back and build topline use something like a pessoa lunging rig.
Just tying her head down is going to encourage her to either fight it or lean on it. Neither of which you want.
