getting a yellow tail white

i need help getting my horse's tail white! Its mostly yellow right now. I tried the vineger thing but it didnt work. I've washed it every day for about a week. Nothing works! There is a show in about 2 weeks (or less) and i need her tail (and a little of her mane) white. Her tail also gets really greasy and attracts dirt.

Also...how can i make her tail more full

i have a palomino mare and her tail is always dirty, expect for at shows. i dont worry about gettting it clean till the day before the show. i use a few different shampoos (not the same time, i like to try them all out, and all shampoos work different on different horses). so if i were u id try wonder blue, silver something (forget the rest of the naem :P ), or any shampoo taht is a dark purple color. and just wash the tail a few times with it. and to keep it clean for the future, use a tail bag!

i have extreme showwhite (or something like that) thats a dark purple....didnt work and it was 14 bucks for a quart ( i think) bottle. Ive tried Vetrolin (kind of works), and Jeffers brightnening blue (works really well in getting the coat soft and white- get the legs very white)

Shapley's Whitening shampoo works really really well on my paint. But don't shampoo the c*rap out of it or it'll get weak and brittle.

ya'll will think that i am crazy, but i use detergent w/ bleach. i mix a little into a bucket of water and i set the tail in and soak of a while. I do that until it gets as white as i think it wil get.

Bleach will turn it yellow and can harm the horses skin. Try super poo. I have a paint and he has a mostly white tail and I find the super poo works well.

i have never had problems using DETERGENT W/ BLEACH, no skin dryness at all. there is so little bleach in that detergent, but there is a chemical that cause a reaction w/ the skin and cause the natural oils to be brought out. I have used this in bathing my horses at the track and I have gotten compliments about how shinny they are, and i have found other people at shows and the track here using it too. My vet even uses it, he loves it, and he hasn't found a problem yet either.

I wash my white tail with any regular shampoo first and let set for 10 min., rinse, wash with a purple whiting shampoo, wait 10 min., rinse. Apply full strength vinegar, wait 5 min. Rinse. Apply liquid bluing diluted in water, wait 5 minutes, rinse. Apply conditioner and let set for 5 minutes, rinse. Works well for stained tails, mainly due to the bluing but be careful or you'll end up with a smurf!
