Exclamation Get Me Started PLEASE

With Fiona leaving to be a lesson horse and Mars leaving in June to a college only the minis will be left home...and Legz will be going up for sale soon(she's REALLY cute and REALLY sweet!!! *hint hint* LOL)

And with the horse market the way it is now because of the slaughterhouse and horses needing homes I was thinking about convincing my mom(to convince my dad LOL) to rescue one...

We have good vets, 2 feed stores, and with summer coming hay will be less expensive and we should be able to buy more in bulk with the storage shed my dad bought.

But where should I go looking? I live in Connecticut. I know of only one horse auction near us, but the horses there are well trained and VERY rarely is there a horse that needs rescueing...

And I can't really travel very far I don't think...though I might be able to convince my mom to make a weekend thing out of getting one.

So...can anyone point me in the right direction?

There is a rescue in Salem called Greener Pastures and one in Coventry called Tara Farms.

Also you can google New England Equine Rescues and that usually comes up with one more.

I have been looking at horse prices and really for us in CT they are not losing value and so I wouldn;t expect that you will find that many that need rescuing - its not like being in TX or CO.
