Genetic People Come in here, Youre help is needed!

Ok so no one has figured this out yet. I have a ONE of a kind mare (I think). now I realize that i can have her tested and all that good jazz but really i dont care enough to do that, plus im selling her so im not putting more money into her not even 25 dollars more. ok so with that said.

She is guessed to be either a Smutty Sorrel OR a Silver Dapple. she is a red chestnut color in body with BLACK spider web dappling on the back of her rear legs. her lower legs are a silvery white then has dark points at her knees and hocks. she has a mealy color around her nose and eyes. her mane and tail are silver and black mixed. its like its black based with silver streaks. she is also getting black coloring on her pasturns. so far she has had 4 foals total. out of a (i think) black homozygous tobiano pony stallion she had 2 black and whites adn one bay and white with a partial 'dorsal' which is perhaps mis coloring or smutty genes. her last foal was from a buckskin with the smutty gene. he was born a Light sorrel the over shadowing (doral look alike). afew mistook him for a red dun but he is a sorrel. he is 3 months old and around his eyes is BAY colored, his mane and tail are going BLACK, jet black. on his legs its coming in a light sorrel color. I only know this because of the 'scuffs' he has that are coming in with new hair.

here are pics of the mare:

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

1, what Breed is she? Does she have a pedigree? If so what colors were her parents listed as?

2. I'm leaning towards Bay silver at this point.

She is American Quarter horse and for those who will try to dispute this the silver dapple does run in the QHS. her registered name is DOLL B BAR and you can see her pedigree on All Breed Pedigree Query

Both her parents are registered Sorrel the same as she is. she has one full sister but I havent been able to track any of them down.

Yes Silver DOES appear in QH. and that mare DOES have Bay/brown parentage in the background. BUT it's been quite RARE to find because either people don't know about it or won't test for it.
so Technically it's possible to have a silver parent registered as a sorrel.
Based on the Pedigree of one of the know DNA tested Documented Stallions,
Bar U Champ Binder Quarter Horse
and your mare's pedigree, They have the following horses in common
Three Bars (tb)
Buck Hancock
Peter McCue
Zantanon - unfortunately his photo is in black and white but it makes him look really dark for a sorrel horse.
There are a couple others, but really far back
the other know Documented mare of a different line ( As the website claims there are only two known documented lined carying silver, but doesn't say what the lines are) It's pretty easy to guess the first ( see above)
Anyway Common ancesters there are
King
Zantanon
Three bars Again

Mostly the "common" ancesters are WAY far back and it's difficult to say if the silver is being passed on in there. Seriously with silver being so rare in the QH it just MIGHT be worth your time and money to get her tested. If there are only one or two of her color in the breed, Her bloodlines are good and she looks pretty good as well. If you have proof she carries silver, that just might make her more marketable.

Looks like a chestnut flaxen w/pangre and sooty/smutty. My mare is similar in color, but she doesn't have the lighter legs and mane/tail high lights.

I would say SD is not as likely as chestnut flaxen with pangre and sooty/smutty. Chestnut w/flaxen is often seen with pangre (think Belgians), so the addition of one more gene, sooty/smutty, is less of a stretch than a bay SD that is as light as she is (looking at the smaller picture of her in the sun).

You know, I saw your pictures of this mare before (in Classifieds I think?) and said she looked like a bay silver as well. But after doing so, I looked at her pedigree...ALL sorrels/chestnuts in the past two generations. So unless two horses (three including her) were misregistered, she has to be sorrel.

Sorry if that's already been posted!

And silver does not affect a red horse, correct?
So a horse can carry the silver gene but it does not express as it does on a black based horse.

If she is indeed a chestnut.... then those smutty looks aren't coming from silver.
