![]() ![]() | Hey,I just have a question.It sort of goes along with that. When is the earliest a colt can be gelded,and is it true that the sooner they are gelded,the gentler and less studly they are later? I have always heard that the sooner a colt is cut,the gentler and easy going he would be. Aren't Clydesdale colts gelded soon after birth? |

| Senior Member+ | Yes, the sooner the better. You want to geld them before the Testosterone level gets too high in the blood stream. You can geld as early as 12 months, and I've seen it done earlier. As long as the testicals are dropped low enough to be felt. A vet can tell you if they are down far enough for gelding.
