Cool gelding attached to filly!

Hi all, i have a 5 year old gelding who is penned with a weanling colt. I have a 2 year old filly seperated from the other 2, but they can still see and smell each other. Now when the filly goes out of site of the gelding, he freaks, he is hard to handle and is totally focused on finding the filly. How do I resolve this annoying vice?? Please anyone with help. pony

Firstly he figures he is being seperated from his herd, and is suffering seperation anxiety. Secondly if he gets hard to handle he doesn't have enough respect for you as the 'boss/alpha' in your relationship/herd.
One thing you can do is to work through his anxiety, getting him to trust and bond with you. Also instill yourself as the leader, by consistently disciplining him for his misbehaviour (don't let him away with one day and then not the next). Never let him away with it, and he will eventually quit misbehaving all together.

I have a 11 year old gelding who is extremely attached to a mare as well. He defends her as 'his mare' just as a stallion would, but when being handled he knows that the person is the boss and can be seperated from her easily (even lead by the mane).

If I wasn't quite clear, or specific enough on some points feel free to ask. Just try and be safe, and hope this gives you a good starting point.

My filly is really attached to my gelding, she follows him everywhere and goes into heat whenever I separate them. Anyway, even though they "love" each other very much, they both know when I come out, I mean business, and neither one gives me any problems.
