I just had my guy gelded in April he was 10 months old. My cost was just under 100.00 and this included sedation and travel. I just had the vet come out to our place and he gelded him in the stall. All went well. He was running around the following day playing with the other horses. The vet said active is good it keeps things draining and healing properly.

I had my 2 & 1/2 year old gelded back in March & it was 130.00 for the procedure & 35.00 for the farm call. Very much worth every penny! Your guy is very handsome, btw.

If you are going to have it done this year, I would schedule sometime around the first frost or afterwards and before next spring to minimize fly strike, etc.

I had Rusty done the first of August. Theoretically the worst time of year to do it, but we had no problems with flies or with swelling.

thanks. i like him.
i live in northern alberta though is the thing i'm concerned about with the weather. winter is when we get the nastiest weather. but i'll get him done before then so i shouldn't have to worry about it. it'll be so nice to have that taken care of & not have to worry about it anymore.

LJ that is why I waited until very early spring.. not so bad winter weather here in Manitoba and still not the flies. I would just get him done very soon. Before winter sets in. Right now the flies are not too bad here. But we did have a couple of mild frosts already.
