Funny story

My dad's brother, my uncle, works at a Bait and Tackle shop at the back bays. Well... there is this new kid he's just hired for the summer. My dad has picked up some things from my uncle and yesterday we went crabbing in one of his boats. Anyway... this kid, -we'll call him *John*- is ALWAYS there... and we come over often. And it's funny the way adults' minds work.

Uncle: So... you like John?
Me: Umm... no?
Uncle: It's okay, I have connections. I can get you guys together. (half-jkingly)
Me: Nah... it's fine.

*And when we leave...*
Uncle: Liz, how old are you?
Me: 15...
Uncle: JOHN... how old are YOU?
John: I'm going to be sixteen...
Uncle: By the way, Liz, John, John, Liz.
Me:

(Half waves, humored.)
John: Hi. (Half waves also...)
Uncle: You guys can exchange phone numbers... whatever. (Laughs)

LOL... that's my uncle. HAH!
And then just yesterday, coming back from crabbing, my dad gives me the same kinda run-around.

Me: Hey, I heard you talking to that kid. What were saying? (suspicous, lol)
Dad: Well, he lives in Court House.. near us.
Me: Really? Where?
Dad: ____ Avenue.
Me: That's creepy close...
Dad: Want me to get you guys together? I... have connections.
Me:

Umm... lol, no. That's fine.
Dad: Oh c'mon.
Me: Why?
Dad: Because I think you may be sweet on him...
Me: No, it's ok..

SWEET ON HIM? Are we now using this terminology? LOL! I love adults!

Anyways... anyone else got the same problem w/ parents trying to fix you up when you're not interested, lol?

LOL that seems like somthing my grandparents would do. That is really funny. Wonder why they think that.

hahaha my mum said my neighbour could teach me to catch crabs if i taught him to saill...i asked her how she knew he would even want to sail (I thought i could get out of it) and she told me his dad said he would love to learn how to sail....
