Fuel

Will the high cost of fuel change your attendance at horse events?

Yep. The fact we live an hour and a half to most peoples starting out points just makes it too costly. I just can't afford it.

Yes if I were showing, it would indeed, it also changes the way I drive....I plan my routes, so I use the least amount of miles to get everything done...I try to shop at one stop places, so I don't have to go to a zillion stores to get what I need....it's redculious what the prices are getting to....

Yup, I'm only attending local shows and events this year and really only hauling Titus to shows for the experience, he's never been to any kind of shows before. Catching a ride with a friend as well in order to split the cost of fuel....

If I was showing this year, YES! Hauling cost $2 a mile last year. I don't even want to know what it costs this year due to the prices of fuel, hay, etc going up. Thankfully, my farm holds a bunch of shows(dressage, events, CTs, shetland shows, etc,.) throughout the year that I can do if I want to. And there is one place about 5 minutes away from the farm that has 2 or 3 hunter shows a year, plus cherokee raiders, and MD pony breeders and some others.

Nope. I just went about 700km's to my state champs which I flunked out in dressage and got eliminated at the first jump lol and I'd do it all again!

So far it hasn't but at some point if fuel keeps going up it will. Not just sure what that point would be but its a ways yet.

I am not showing much lately because of the new horse. I am going on break soon from school and have a show almost every weekend in August. Most of my shows are about 40 minutes away. I just called for a class list in Fredericksburg(Sirrus Dressage farm).

Not that bad for us. I just had a show today. I think it cost 100 to fill up. But if I do good with beau in barrel racing at our next show, I can get some pretty high payback.. which is always good!

It already has. I've missed two events I was planning on for this year already due to gas costs. I can afford the entry fees, but I can't afford entry fees AND gas. Hopefully, me moving with help that, I'll be much closer to events and won't have to spend a fortune on gas.
