Beautiful, beautiful horse. That color alone will take a person's eye away from conformation faults! LOL

Yes, yearlings fall apart. Did you see the mare she was out of or know what the sire looks like? This would give you some idea of what to expect from the cross.

My main advice would be to make sure you keep those feet trimmed and balanced so that she has the best possible chance of growing those legs as straight and sound as her genetics will allow.

Have fun and enjoy that filly. There are no perfect horses out there. They all have "something" that isn't quite right. As long as she is already yours, there's no turning back now. I know of what I speak. I've been in that situation too - in fact am in it right now. Darn color blindness!

LoL, you sure know how I'm feeling, Dusty!
Thank you very much for the compliments.
I actually just switched farriers and I absolutely LOVE my new one. He's wonderful - my reiner has never moved so freely. Awesome, awesome work.

Well she is still really young then, mine just turned a year May 9, he looks a little funky right now, haha. But I'm still sure she will grow up and look greAT, gaining weight, and muscling up, and grow spurts all make a difference, I thought she was older. But I'm sure she will be awesome. And like I said, very nice color. Nice little horse, have fun with your new baby!

I vote for not even considering her. Oh my, that neck! I can't see it changing a whole heck of a lot, and its very strange looking. The downhill build is concerning, as she's more downhill than any gangly yearling I've ever seen. I mean, she's extremely downhill even for a yearling! And the pasterns are my very biggest concern. They scare me to death. So incredibly long and straight. Nope, I'd not give her a second look. Only thing that is appealing about her is her color and the adorable striping on her legs.

OK, just read the entire post (my bad, I didn't read it all before posting). I see that she's officially yours. She is, after all, only a yearling. I just happened to be lucky that my two youngsters that I had were well conformed at that age, and never really had an awkward, gangly stage. I've only had two youngsters, so who am I to judge? Many of the people on this board have had oodles of youngsters and know what stages they can go through. So don't listen to me, please!

Native Winds, if you have time...you could. I just don't want to be absolutely heartbroken.
So, you have to remind me how long it takes yearlings to grow into themselves.
