She is definitely going to be losing weight ....she looked really good up until about a month ago...and then she was off for a few weeks, and she put the weight back on.

My vet is the track vet too, and he is always laughing saying at least she isn't like her mom. Who WAS a hard keeper!

I like that stallion, however, do you think he is still too bulky for her? He seems to be a bit thick too.

This is the sort of thing I would looking at and i actually really like this guy in particular, look at that shoulder!!! (sorry I go nuts for a good shoulder! lol) Although I have to say I'm not keen on the filly he produced.

Only problem is he is yet to be approved.

He is on the light side for a warmblood, I think the only way to get much finer than that is with a predominantly TB stud.
April - If the mare is not to be bred til next year he may have approvals by then, he might be one to watch anyway. Like I said the only thing I dont like is the filly he produced!

Swedish might be the way to go too. All foals by a fully licensed stud would be fully registerable without presenting the mare.

This guy is 1/2 TB and currently eventing...

you know, it's funny Lou cause that stallion you just posted about is the same one you tore apart when I told you I was breeding my mare to him. He is very light in build and not tall which is why I liked him for lips. And the filly he produced is gorgeous. She has a perfect shoulder and hip, nice uphill build for dressage. She is only 2 days old in that photo and is out of an elite mare. He's a quality stallion, and has just started training with Leslie Reid for dressage. I just bred Lips to him 2 weeks ago, I'm fingers crossed right now that she took!! Ultrasound in a few days....

Wow...wow...wow....I think I found the stallion I REALLY like.

I LOVE Masterpiece. THAT is exactly what I have in mind. He is tall, and not bulky at ALL. Wow...did I read his stud fee right? $600?

QHandaWarmblood:

Mandy is absolutely LOVELY! A little chubby yes, but not thick per se. With a little toning and work she'd be phenomenal. Her neck is a bit short and thick. But I imagine that can in part be attributed to being a bit rotund! Her legs could use some lengthening but overall she's a fabulous looking mare.

I do not suggest crossing her with an arab at this point. That foal would not be eligible for registration with any of the more predominant Warmblood registries, and as I read early you were looking to have the option of selling the foal in the future. If you're looking for marketability keep in mind that your mare's dam was un-papered. If you're planning on representing the mare to the ISR/Oldenburg NA she will not in fact be eligible for the Oldenburg brand based on her lack of pedigree, and in order for the foal to be registerable you'll need to find a stallion in their books who's licensed with them. The ISR actually has the greatest number of stallions available, with the greatest number of locations and sites.

And WOW! WHAT a canter!!! You can't ask for much better then that! As far as her trot is concerned, I imagine that if she's really pushed and put up to her full potential you'll find she's been equally as well endowed! STUNNING gaits that mare has!

As far as stallion suggestions go, I'd really love to see what you think of this guy:

Escudo II / Rainbow Equus Meadows - Escudo II

We literally just crossed him to a Mannhattan daughter this year because we think he'll be an absolutely phenomenal cross with her. He'll help out with her neck, her legs, and he's got fantastic movement as well. He'll compliment her nicely on size, and they're planning on presenting him this year to the ISR/Old NA. He's absolutely gorgeous...talented, athletic...and he'll give you a registerable foal who'll have PLENTY of potential!

Either way, you have a gorgeous mare on your hands, and she's got athlete written all over her. So very very lovely!

Thought you all might like to see some current photos of Mandy's sire, Mannhattan. They were taken last year at the ripe old age of 15. Not bad for an old, retired guy that had been standing out in the pasture <smile>.

FWIW, the mare has an absolutely phenomenal canter...something Mannhattan tends to stamp on his get. And the trot is definitely there - she's just not being ridden appropriately to show it, which is unfortunate. She's overweight and if you were to pull the weight off of her, I think most people would find that she's NOT heavy at all.

In any event, Escudo II would be a lovely cross for her as it would improve the areas that I personally think she could use improvement - a bit more length of leg, a slightly better shoulder, and a better neck...

BTW, while Mannhattan won the jumping portion of his 100 Day Test and went on to compete to Level 8 (preliminary level) in the jumpers before he was injured, he received 9's on his canter and has produced more than a handful of truly talented dressage horses - Morocco being just one of them.

Good luck!

I was looking at the wrong horse on your thread I'm really sorry about that, your link didnt work properly on my computer cause of the firewall and I ended up on the wrong page cause I had to google him. I just checked again and it still does the same thing and I ended up with a thoroughly awful stallion with a similar name.
Really sorry. This guy I like a lot. However this is what I ended up with when I googled the name Pacific and stallion. Breeding and him I DONT like
