Free Lease Offer/Help**PICS ADDED**

I was contacted today by a friend that owns a boarding facility in Cadillac Michigan. She is currently free leasing two AWSOME stallions, but the owner is in a terrible possition and being forced to move all of her horses NOW. Lack of hay and many other bad things are causing her to move every one of these animals. The two stallions are reg. APHA, the one is only 13pts from his SUP in Halter and is broke the ride. The other is a 3yr old. both have pedigree's to die for with no impressive blood! She also has several other riding horses, brood mares and young stock all but 2 are registered. they all have great lineage and there are several disiplines. If anyone is interested in helping please contact me asap. Free lease is prefered but may donate to right show home as she has no choice right now. email or pm me for contact info directly to the owner or ask me questions and I will answer best I can. I will be heading out there this weekend and hopefully bringing at least one home. This is a great opportunity for someone to have a great show horse for little or nothing at all and the horses NEED to find a home with food! Please if anyone can help contact me asap. I will be on and off line today so if you are serious and know you are interested no matter what you can call me at 231-878-8170. I have not met them yet, I will get pedigree and pic's as soon as we get out there. It will be this weekend! Thank you so much for your time and consideration. EDIT: I went to meet these horses today..NOT GOOD!! I was told they were thin and had no more hay..they have found some hay (not enough) but the horses are extrememly skiny, I cannot even begin to explain how bad. Rescues have been called and they were all full, however I was able to find one that may be able to take the majority of them. I am brining two home with me next weekend as they will be fed until then. I did see papers on these guys, they have one tobiano mare, about 6-7 minimal chestnut paints, one bay impressive bred N/H filly, a young dark bay stallion ect. The list goes on, she is desperate to move them and has already given several away but just cannot find more homes. If anyone is in a position to take on a rescue this IS a rescue. They are all severly emeciated. Please if you can help call me, email me somthing. We have got to get them some food.

Well bad news. I was just informed that she has turned down homes for the broke horses I dont know why since I was JUST there yesterday and there were 10 left to be placed. I sure wish I could have taken pics, but when I go back friday to pick the girls up I will be able to find out exactly what the deal is. Why ppl insist on keeping animals they cannot afford is beyond me and to be honest even if she has placed the majority of them I still would not consider it a good home for them. I will keep you all posted, promise!

Welcome to the real world... sorry you are having to learn this first hand. I have dealt with this for years... Many think I am crass or callous about the rescue situation but the problem is I have been in your position for many years... I know where there are many horses who are not getting the best care but until the owner is willing to actually do something what can you do to change things? Nothing. BTW if I were you I would confront the lady in your situation tomorrow and know the exact name of the person and the horse and ask her point blank why... especially since she asked you to help her find homes. To me this is just garbage. I am sorry you are having to be put in the middle of it. I really appreciate all you are trying to do for these horses.

It's certainly a sad, crazy situation that's for sure! I did call to find out just what was going on. She has placed all of the riding horses except the halter stallion that is currenlty being leased. That lease ends in June. I guess she needs to learn to use her words differently but at least she was'nt just turning homes down as was orriginally thought. I may be going thursday evening rather than friday morning to pick up my new girl and my friends. I'm so darned anxious to get her home it's crazy!! I dont know if you seen MBFoley's post "before, before and after", but her gelding in those pics is heavier at his thinnest than the girl I'm getting is now Of course he was hairy and she is starting to lose some so that may be the only difference since I didnt get to see Rodney in that condition. Anyhow, This gal is down to the 4 stallions, one very grouchy paint broodmare, a Palo mare Im not sure will make it she is soo bad off and two impressive bred 4 or 5yr olds. If I understood her correctly she will be able to properly care for 2-3 horses as her hubby is back to work now. I still think its a scary thaught but I sopose it's possible. I know I sure couldnt afford 12 of them!! This is my first Bad rescue. I've taken horses that were thin and/or mistreated but never in this bad of condition! I'll have to see if I can crop up one of the pics I got on my cell phone and post it. It's only the back and hips of one of hte filly's that got a new home but WOW, is she thin

Ok here is the pic I was able to get with my cell phone. The grey is the alpha and is one of two that are not all bones (still pretty dang thin though). The sorrel is a 2yr old grade paint filly, this is what the rest of them look like

The whole thing is so messed up. Get that little mare out of there asap! I know you will do what is right, in every sense in this situation.

The whole thing is so tragic.

Let me know what time you are planning on heading that way if you go tormorrow instead... I would still like to ride along.
