A bit off topic, but I have to ask. What do you do with the mini's and what kind of changes do you have to make to accomodate them. (fencing, tie posts, etc.)

Porche is looking excellent BTW. She has got to think she died and went to horsey heaven. I'm just happy she got to skip the dying part.

I just acquired the girls this winter but will be showing the one we refered to as Indy, in halter and jumping if all goes well. The stallion is 19 and has a ugly knee from an old injury. We got him a little over a year ago from a gal that used him as a herd sire for like 10 years. Poor guy has been so lonely. As far as accomodations...Fencing wise I use hot wire just like I do with the big horses only its shorter. I have three strands with the lowest being about 6" off the ground (lots of weed control needed for hot wire), then the tallest one is about 3'. Ive not had one get out yet but I know a lot of ppl prefer to use the mesh type fencing. Basically I just use the same stuff as the big horses only shrunk down..lol I can use the same hitching post but I tie them lower is all.

It's funny actually Porche got loose on me the other day, was all my fualt, and I was worried she was going to take off since I've not had her very long. She took off and made it as far as the top of the driveway and then came running back. She stopped about 3' from me at the barn and just stood there like "oh man mom that was soo scary, take me back in please"! I am so incredibly happy with her all the way around!

I hate these sort of stories, if you going to neglet horses what's the point in getting them in the first place it's wrong and i don't like it.

Ya know what makes even LESS sense....these ppl's horses all had fantastic pedigree's, confirmation all in all top quality animals and they never transfered them into their names so all teh foals they produced every year we sold as grade animals when they were in fact extremely well bred. Why on earth would you even do that? Seems to me if you wanted to breed and make any money at all you'd get those horses transfered so the foals would be worth more? Basically they are just MORONS! BUT AC has been called and they are currently "looking into the case" so here is hoping.

For all of you that have been following this thread...I will be taking new pics tomorrow if weather allows. Now that Porche is out with the "gang" she is starting to gain some muscle tone. She still has some of the spiney look but well heck as you can tell from the pics I last posted she is certainly putting the weight on in record time! This mare has been a total blessing. Her manners are wonderful. I can lead her from place to place with nothing more than a rope around her neck or my hand under her jaw. I can clip her loose in a paddock, groom her and touch her everywhere. My son can handle her with no problems and she is just a perfect lady. I want to thank you all for following this story and for all the nice comments that were made. If all goes well Porche will begin a workout schedual next week that will include lunging, flexing/bending, and many other games from the ground. Again, a big thank you to you all! If you think I should start a new thread for her in another forum just let me know. This one is pretty long now and its not all that hard to upload pics of her progress into another thread.
