Free horse to good home in Florida
I will also post this in ads but I want to get the word out. I have a friend with a 7 yo Standardbred Pacing gelding. The gelding is a very sweet, quiet horse. He injured his coffin joint and while the vet said in 6 mos it will heal and he will be able to race again, the owner wants him to go to a good home instead of dropping down out of the top races he is in to low level claimer, where someone could claim him and end up amished out.
He is ridable now for low impact rides, his coffin joint is fusing and will be fused in about 6 mos. He is still at the track in So Fla but being turned out during the day and in his stall at night.
He nick name is Harry or Red and he is a very sweet guy. If I had room I would take him but I'm full. He is updated on all shots and coggins and ready to go to a good home soon. The owner also wants "visitation rights" and be able to see the horse from time to time.
Post inquiries and I'll return them.
I wish I was allowed to bring home another. My father and hubby would kill me. Actually, let me talk to my dad and see what he says. Would they mind if he didnt get rode? I have an old gelding and a filly that arent rideable and I need to find the filly another pasture mate since my old man is heading down hill at a pretty fast pace. I hardly have enough time to work the ones that HAVE to be worked, so if they wouldnt mind him being just a pasture pet, then I will seriously talk to my father and hubby. Let me know. If not, I know a few ppl that would take another.
I think its great that they are willing to give him away to a good home. Its always nice when the owners really care about their horses If I was in Florida I would certainly take him in. I hope they find him a good home!
Yes, he could be a pasture decoration, in fact, the vet said 6 mos for the joint to fuse than he's fine. He does like to work, so just trail riding occasionally would be fine. He is a very nice horse. We will miss Red.
Okay, I'm bumping this up so other people can look at this guy. We need to find him a home asap as his training bill is still clicking away per day. He is sound to ride at a walk right now, but in 4-6 mos that joint will fuse and he will be sound for just about anything but jumping. Red is a sweet man and needs a good home.
is he still availabe? I live in florida. He sounds like something i'm looking for.
Doubtful since this thread goes back to 2005
