Free Horse!!!

Hello everyone, I have a grey gelding around 10 years old and around 14 hands. He is very friendly, first to nicker and greet you when you come in sight. He has heaves and we live in very south Louisiana. The vet diagnosed him as having heaves and says he will be fine when he leaves the area we are in, sugar cane everywhere. and lots of allergies. He was bought at a auction and we have had him for a year. The kids ride him around the yard with a halter. I haven't done much with him. He has never offered to bite, kick or act "stupid" with us. I have a 6 and 11 year old, so he has to be safe. We are just looking for a great forever home for him. please email if you are interested. montecooley@cox.net
Thanks everyone for helping!!

You should definately consider putting an adoption fee with him to save him from going to a kill buyer....

Or just have the adopter sign a contract. That would work too.

It would help to put his breed and height. Photos are always good too. You say the vet said he'll be fine once he has left your area - what is it about the sugar cane everywhere that affects him and in what way? Did the vet put this in writing or just in conversation?

I thought heaves was brought on by dust and mold. Is it heaves or allergies?

I am from Long Island, NY and one of our horses has heaves (no sugar canes here). Heaves will never subside, but can be controlled with medication. The horse just can't be exersiced too strenously, but is rideable.

I'll take him! lol. I'm trying to find a good horse for my lesson program, and I am trying to sell Skye to make room for one more. I would have to learn more about Heaves and figure out the cost of shipping first before I could commit to anything.

Good luck!~Brit
