Fraudulent Rescues

A rescue can answer all the questions right and only give you the names of people who give good references, so how do you find out about the bad?? Is there a list or forum somewhere?? A place that people can post their experiences with rescues?

i'm a little confused about what you mean, but if you are are ever interested in a rescue but you doubt its credability then ask around to as many people as you can. the bigger rescues will have non-profit status and you can check that out (although some smaller rescuse can be perfectly legit and not have non-profit status). also spend as much time at the rescue as you can, if something is fishy you should be able to tell. make sure they care for all the horses in a logical fashion(bad rescues can be a little "out there") and that horses that have been there a while are in fairly good health. it can be as simple as checking to make sure they have a farrier out on a regular basis. i hope that helps!

my only experience with a rescue is when i got Cabeza, and that was from a fairly new local rescue, but they were very nice and i spent plenty of time there before i got him. i don't have anything bad to say about it , it was a great place that really cares about the horses!

I have never rescued a horse from an orignization so I have absolutely no clue how it works. Just one question do you have to sign a contract saying you will kep the horse till it dies?? See if you done that I wouldn't because if I find a better owner than me for that particular horse then I will give it away or sell it before I keep it if it's better off in someone else's hands. By the way I do take good care of my horses and other farmets but I want the horse to have the best home, I have horses for sale right now if you want to see pictures let me know!
