wow its just a contest...when you enter a contest you have a chance of losing thats just the way it is...(plus its just an online contest where u get nothing for winning)

Some people take things WAY to seriously!!

Hadn't a clue anything like this was happening... Heck I'm still trying to figure out what the rep thing is all about... (Gonna go look for threads on that one...)

Seriously, it's just a 'for fun' thing right? The contests I mean, so what's the big deal, why would anyone get upset if they don't get votes or feel the need to solicit them? I don't get it.

People are actually asking for votes? That's pretty tacky! I'm sorry, but I don't base my self worth on a forum contest. If people want to run contests and vote for their friends only, then that's on them. It's not winning the contest that matters. It's what you do and the impression you make on people that makes you a true winner... Oh wow, I sound like my mother XO

It would obviously not be fair of course to be asking people to vote for you. Or offer rep points for a contest prize. Although, if you enjoy, and appreciate the work that went into an entry from a contestant, by all means I believe if rep points were given, it shows how good your work, or advise, etc... was.
i thought we weren't allowed to vote for ourselves...

It depends on the individual contest, they make up the rules on if you can vote for yourself.

I see nothing wrong with Pm'ing friends to go vote for my horse if I feel he is the best of the bunch..I did that for a forum contest before I read this thread.. Was not aware it was against the rules.....EVen when you try to do something fun it turns out wrong..Oh well..
