This is America, whether or not he's the president he has the RIGHT and personal freedom to be whatever dang religion he wants... If he wants to start his own, so be it! No, it ISN'T talking about his faith. This shows him talking about Islam. He talks about its contributions to the world--something my seventh grade students could discuss. [While the Islamic world was breaking ground in algebra, astronomy, and other fields, the Christian world in Europe was convicting people through trial by ordeal--throwing people in wells and stuff to determine guilt]. He talks about the fact that he has seen Islam from a perspective many of us don't know--living in the culture, having family who follows the faith, etc. He talks about the fact that we are not a Christian nation--meaning we accept all faiths. Last I heard, the Bill of Rights still guarantees this right, as it always has. Islam HAS always contributed to world and American culture--it's both ignorant and foolish to deny it.

The woman from the Fox clip is making the most idiotic argument ever. Even O'Reilly seemed skeptical. I couldn't even finish watching the last few seconds. And how dare he wear the clothes of another culture--one he is visiting--what an outrage! My non-Christian grandfather visited a variety of churches--none of it made him a Christian.

I can't think of a thing in the Constitution or election law or anything else that says one must wear an American flag pin--an empty gesture. When one is grasping at straws, though, I suppose anything will do.

I hope America isn't ever at war with Islam.

However, thanks for that nice dose of bias, fear-mongering, misinformation, and out of context quotation. It reminds me of why the Islam unit I am teaching is SO critical.

Sorry if that's harsh, but honestly, can you find anything more petty to talk about? And were you alive during the election? This has topic has been beaten to DEATH.

I know it's a lot harder to actually educate other people and yourself on important issues, but it does a lot more good.

Before you start conversations like this it's always a good idea to actually watch or listen to the full speeches or conversations rather than just mere snippets. Especially when the snippets are complied with by someone obviously trying to imply negative things. If you had taken that time you would hear references to the fact that the US is not a christian nation but rather accepting of all religions. And about how due to his background he has a unique understanding of Muslim faith as well as others. The Koran is not an uncommon text to reference in a scholarly sense. It is considered one of the major written texts in the world and is heavily studied by people of all faiths. What is so wrong with a president showing acceptance to a variety of faiths and is educated???

But beyond all that even if in some random twist of life he is a muslim, what is the issue with that? How does that hurt you in anyway? Being a christian I am a firm believer in being accepting of others despite their differences. When you condemn those who are different you lose out on all they have to teach you and share with you as well as all you can share and teach them.
