I haven't used it, but knowing from experience what it's like to halter break a yearling alone, I wish I had one. From what I've heard, they can adjust to a pretty big size. If you don't have a helper to assist with a butt rope on an older, bigger youngster, I think it would be great. Afew people I know have them and say they're great as long as you adjust them properly, and most of them agree that it's safer than a regular butt rope. Good luck, I hope someone else is more helpful than me!

Done the same thing with a lariat looped, and prefer it as I would worry with this product being at poll too, that in cases where a colt may lose it, harder to get off of colt. I have worked with many "hot blood" babies, and I can just see the rodeos we would have with something like this.

And I would have my doubts about it being good for teaching to load in trailer as I feel may encourage a colt to throw head up and fight.

So many of these things are a gimmick, don't say some of them don't work, but can be done without spending more money.

I still prefer less equipment, less activity, to a lot of straps, buckles, etc.

Although if a person is determined to use this thing, seems to me could be made a whole lot cheaper than 45 dollars, as appears to be webbing like you use for belts, child's harness for swings, and such.

I think it would actually be a great tool. It would be easier to use than a dressage crop or a rump rope. Also the que would be ery simple to understand.

I think getting it on a horse that isn't halter broke would be near impossible. Sometimes it's a challenge just to loop a rope over their rearends while they are dancing around. You can just use a normal rope or a lariat is easier and drop it down over their hindquarters until it settles a little above the hocks. It works much better on weanlings and really young horses though than yearlings though. Your arms are farther apart and their rump is higher so your rope gets out of place easier. For yearlings and older your better off using a lunge or dressage whip if you need an extra aid. Usually I just use the end of the lead rope and start with teaching them to move around me until they get the idea of forward movement in a halter. A round pen comes in very handy for halter breaking grown horses.

oh you can easily do that with a long lead rope. We call it a butt rope. It helps you direct their rear end, and you and direct their front end,.....
