Foaling mare question

Anyone have experiences with mares that get more hyper and want to eat more in the last stages? like running, bucking wigging out at every little thing then go back to grazing like nothing?

Talking to EVERYTHING! Its like the only time shes quiet is when she has her grain or her hay. The rest of the time shes pacing, talking, takes off running, has spurts of go energy... Like the total opposite of what she should have at this stage.

Shes so confusing haha

Barbie was super depressed and lethargic from month s 7-10, and then the last 5 weeks she is more normal and the last few days she is all excited about everything. I hope that means she will be having a baby soon.

Panties in a knot LOL
They tend to get wierd during pregnancy.
Fancy is especially 'cranky' right now with less than 3 weeks to go (I think)
darn near takes my head off when I ask for her to move when cleaning the stall.

One of our mares who foaled this morning, (maiden) was pretty spazzy the last 48 hours of her pregnancy. She wouldn't eat though. She would paw, pace, bite her sides and back up with each contraction. And she is a nasty new momma. Kicked my husband in the arm and chest when he was trying to move her this morning.

Whoa!! Thats not a good thing wow! I noticed breeze tonight was backing up and breathing funny again, had my hand on her side by her flank and she was backing up. She still eats though lol I dont think that is EVER going to change. Hope your hubby is ok. I tend to use the bag trick when breeze gets nasty.
I just keep it in my pocket out of sight until she tries to bite me, then i whip it out and OFF SHE RUNS! Might help in this instance too. I am expecting her to be quite nasty since she has been so wonderful lately.

Congrats on your new baby!

yeah, i couldnt touch paris' bag, sides halfway back, or clean her vulva in the last 24. she was not going to have it. stompy, didnt kick out, but her whole side would just start shaking and contracting and she would try to fly away. also her tail became less relaxed. she is very opposite haha. i HARDLY got her rewrapped that morning. she didnt like anything back there, like i said, i barely got her wrapped and she was ****** by the time i was done.
