Question Flymasks that stay on??

Everytime I go out to see my horses , I always have to do some searching for their flymasks. So i just bought one that form fits to my mares head. I will try to find a picture. I'm hoping it will stay on.

Is it because of the mask that it falls off or the horse?
Does anyone have a form fitting flymask or a good one that stays on?

I haven't had anything bad to say about the Farnam Supermask II yet. My guy is usually pretty rough on his things. It has not only stayed on...but is also rip free! If you leave halters on...there is also a way I found that helps them stay on even better!! Since it has double velcro to help it stay on better, I put it under the halter, do up the first velcro and then I will take the overlapping piece, put it over the cheek piece of the halter and then velcro it to the middle portion if that makes sense?

The Supermask II is the only flymask I have found to not come off horses...even in the herd of 10 or so that there was at the barn at one point. All the other ones came off..cavalier, absorbine, shedrow, century...

The trick of having one stay on is having one that fits. I went through 4 or 5 different brands for Meteor, my arab, before settling on the Cashel w/o ears. It's the best fit for his head and stays on great. None of the Supermask ones fit him.

My other boy I was luckier and just went through 2 before finding the one that stays on. He wears a Supermask II.

I know the Cashel ones have a full measuring chart for their sizes, but the others I think are pretty much trial and error.

A thought, though... if your horse has a thick forelock, you probably want one either with a forelock hole or that's open between the ears as having that thick hair up under the mask probably lifts it enough to make it easier to get off.

The smaller heads are fun to fit. Meteor's issue is that he's between the Arab and Horse sizes for most companies. Usually the Arab size has the eye darts way to high, but it fits around his head. The Horse size has the eye darts in the right place, but is way too big around his head. Either of those made him want to get it off as soon as possible.

The Cashel Arab size, though, fits like a glove, with no gaps. I used their measurement table and every measurement was either dead on or VERY close. On my other boy, though, the Cashel doesn't fit worth a darn. It is very individualistic.

I've had the best luck with Cashel and Supermasks staying on.

Good luck, mask hunting isn't a fun sport I always want to participate in contrary to what my monsters say!

I bet that's why Riley's always falls off! It is a bit big, so when he tries to get it off even just a bit it comes right off! That makes sense...
